Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by Neate Michael on Oct 31, 2019 12:41:52 GMT 1, I cannot imagine he hasn't tested the price points. It is probably not meant for the regular folks.... I'm not sure that many people outside of the Banksy fans would even know who Laz is though. As someone said, anybody can photograph a Banksy in the street. You are buying a work by Steve Lazarides not Banksy and imo the pricing should be reflective of this. I would think he has contacts from his Laz days who he contacted to check the price points?

Maybe, but I think I will go for one or two of the James Pfaff photos at some point, better images and half the price.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by gwenie on Nov 2, 2019 3:13:09 GMT 1, Haven’t been on here for a while - hello to all my long standing formulates. I simply do not understand this. Laz making more money out of something he did not do. Everyone knows there was a falling out between Laz and Mr B. Sure they had some good times together, but now capitalising it on again - with a book? Laz has so many Banksy artworks. The only good thing I can say about Laz is that he does have a huge passion for street art and New York graffiti. I think Mr Laz has the biggest art collection I have ever seen.

exactlyyyyyy. those who bought the tenners, what were you all thinking? No shade to BNG, but c'on lads, it is not a banksy! Laz: "buy these tenners, they have a banksy image, take my word for it, as a matter of fact take my CoA for it. oh these two other boxes full of tenners?? that's just for me down the line😏" 😕😕😕

I agree. In fact we see nothing, light is even not good. Laz sorted photos, because his Instagram followers asked him for a book. I have never been impressed by his photos, already seen thousands of times.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by King Robbo Lives on Nov 3, 2019 18:23:29 GMT 1, I agree that the pricing is on the higher side, but if it were less, folks would say he's devaluing Banksy's work by selling them so affordably. I think that many are looking past how Laz and B got aquainted; through photographing his work. Another thing not being considered, as evidenced in Exit Through..., Laz was a big part of B's operation, a lot more than just a lowly photographer. If you don't like the prints, don't buy them. Those complaining that they would buy in a lower edition really need to evaluate what they are collecting art for.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by dilu on Nov 3, 2019 19:12:36 GMT 1, I’ve previously posted not being completely convinced by Steve’s artist eye. In the photographs with Banksy’s in them, I think it’s safe to say these are the closest we will ever get to a portrait and so I’m drawn to this in the same way I’d enjoy looking at a candid moment caught of a celebrity and not think to much about composition, lighting and so on. For these photographs it’s very much like trying to sneak a look behind the curtain but knowing that’ll never happen and in truth I’d probably be disappointed. Without Banksy in the shot we have a cow spray painted or a bridge in the background and a market beneath. The only point of interest is seeing images for the first time and their location placement. I’ve always lived in London and so, I get the added enjoyment of surprise from learning of all the pieces I walked passed, but never really realising the cultural importance. I remember all the new Banksys around east London.
Like most I’ll by the book because I like art, I like owning things new and shiny, I have quite a lot of art related books.
As for pricing of these, I think I might stretch to a photograph of Banksy holding a log, for reasons mentioned but if pushed I’d look to buy something by probably JR.

Banksy Captured Book • Steve Lazarides , by dilu on Nov 3, 2019 23:43:56 GMT 1, History tells us Mr Lazirides and Mr B had a falling out, however if memory services me right for a few years he was openly selling items which may or may not have come with PC COAs. The introduction of PC might have curbed what was then sold.
Fast forward the sudden unexpected selling of De-face tenners with Mr Laz COAs but no Mr Bs. Are these therefore genuine, and if genuine does it matter beyond the necessity of a bulletproof COAs, if they lack the PC COA. The only way I can see if things mattered is if PC denied their authenticity which they’ve yet too (granted early days)..
Part of Mr Lazs marketing of his book is the first fifty purchases get a “genuine” tenner and for one lucky lucky buyer an unsigned WSM print. Now this one is the real million dollar question “Does this come with a PC COAs?” If it doesn’t, does it lessen the value of the print in terms of being a genuine piece, and secondly in monetary terms?
Hell does any of it matters.

I think someone noted there were recently some changes to POW and PC ownerships something like that. Worth having a check on Companies House beta website

Renegade. They’re his photos so I don’t think he needs Banksy’s consent... unless he starts selling mugs and calendars, etc.
