Cleon Peterson Facebook Instagram, by Fast Eddie on Nov 2, 2019 0:41:19 GMT 1, Cleon Peterson produces some of the most violent and tragic images in urban art.
Then he proceeds to print them on walls in fancy airports or on MCM living room furniture. Please explain why and what kind of artistic ethos guides this.

Cleon Peterson Facebook Instagram, by Fast Eddie on Nov 2, 2019 16:00:11 GMT 1, I strongly agree that issues of power, violence, war and crisis need constant attention and deserve special space in art.
But they are issues that merit patience, care, and respect. One trivializes these issues by degrading their presentation. Why upholstery? Why objects of daily use? Put the picture of a refugee on the wall in your house and that becomes a statement and a reminder to yourself, representing a degree of care and demanding attention. Print the same picture on a sofa and seat on it, and the message is very different. Almost of indifference. A sad, hyped-up decoration.
This artist appears clueless and superficial in this video. My impression is that Cleon Peterson stumbled in a striking artistic line of expression, borrowing from ancient Greek vase painting art. But it really seems as he has no depth and could not go any deeper.
I guess a good contrast to Cleon is Ai Weiwei, who had similar classical Greek inspirations, but shows much more intelligence and sensitivity...
