Have to say Geoff giving out tickets for an LE copy for people who were picking up a copy on behalf of forum member friends who aren't queueing or turn up and no matter how loyal a VNA collector or not is somewhat unfair on people like artjunkie who did bother turning up to the event. I'd be really pi*@ed if it happened to me. Give him a P/P copy or something.

I hear what you say. I was lucky enough to get one picked up for me by a forum member, which I am hugely grateful for.
I can assure you I have been an avid collector of vna since the release of edition 3.
There is just no way I could get there in person. I didn't leave work in Coventry until gone 6.
I think Geoff realises there are few in this position and has tried to help out.
That said, I am gutted for art junkie. If I win the lottery he can have that one at cost.

Ruggs...I know - we had these 3 LEs with tickets that were sat there for people who had queued since before 5:30 and no one claiming them...it was by about 7:15 it was clear that 2 of those 3 were still at the event but had no intention of buying the mag. At that point we 'released' them and offered them out to some forum people who were there to get them for people who couldn't make it.

Believe me I don't hand out tickets to randoms claiming they need a 'second' - I was chatting to forum members and seeing them PM people to see if a second copy was available later on, whether they wanted first dibs on one. I know plenty of people still missed out regardless.

Apologies to artjunkie that he came down and then couldn't find me to see if we could sort it. If a forum member has a spare that isn't spoken for please sort him out. If not, we'll try and do something.

I can see how much of a dilemma it was in the end Geoff. Didn't mean to have a go, I just felt artjunkie's frustration and pain in turning up and ending up not getting one. Should mention it looks a great issue by the way. I'm guessing something really special for Issue 20! Following this thread has reminded me i'm so far behind with my VNA's. As well as number 19 I need the 3 previous issues.

I have to say a big thanks to georgec7 for asking geoffw to put one by for me! I was running late and thought I was going to miss out until I got a PM through the forum! Love the mag and was a nice surprise that there was one actually put aside for me! I did try and bag a second for a boardie but sadly they were all taken! Man it was hot in that basement tho!

Geoff did a great job on trying to help people out. It was a tough call but we did everything we could to help the genuine VNA fans out.

I myself have helped lots of people here on the forum in the past but even then some of them have ended up being sold on which is really disappointing so its not easy. I don't know what we will do in the future with Special edition releases...

Anyway, thanks everyone for coming to the VNA 19 launch party especially in that extreme heat!

Bit gutted - I made it down just as they had sold out other than the 6 or so they were holding back until 7pm for people to potentially claim. I was already running late for something else so couldn't hang around to see if they did get claimed - talk about first world problems!

I'd really like to get a copy (with envelope and goodies) to join these guys.



If anyone has a spare copy or wants to sell their own on the quiet drop me a pm.

edit: Just seen George's comment above - I'm in no way am blaiming the system or any of the VNA team, it seemed to be a tightly run ship and i should have got there 15 mins earlier or so

vna is the best mag going
they have indeed sorted my vna addiction more than once - without them i wouldnt have my dface special, my conor harrington special or a whole load of extra vna goodies.

such a shame that people turn up for these launches just to flip them and all the VNA team do a sterling job of getting the specials to the people who really want them

Yeah for sure...I'm don't think we could please everyone all the time but that said, we do recognise the support and love for the mag from this forum so do try and help people who've been queuing come rain, sun or that general grey London murk for the last few years.

bit cheeky holding mags for people. whoever they are.
if i go to a vna launch i have to take half a day at work, pay £35 to sit on a train for an hour and then queue up. a few londoners crying cause they had to walk for 10 minutes or got held up in traffic doesnt really get my sympathy. IMO plan your day better.

here's always at least one name I'm not too familiar with each issue so its a good bit of education, and I have them in the art library at school and the pupils go mental for it, a real inspiration to them.

Errrr if they don't pay for it within a certain period, it gets offered to someone else. I'd suggest they pass on the opportunity if they don't have £20-odd quid to spare.

If they buy it and flip it at a later date there's not much we can do about it
