It also came with a framed version of the trolly hunters.

Better paper. Also garbage frame.

But the image after research is centered on the paper and not in the bottom 3rd like all the editions

No water mark or impression on it either.

Why haven’t you sent it to Pest Control?
Good attempt at a fake signature but you forgot about the numbering which is terrible - also the signature looks bigger than the image? Is it a rubber stamp?

The rat. Is it a print or drawing? The signature looks just like the one I've seen for  real, but this size and shape print I've never seen. Radar rat is A4. This looks tiny. 
Probably best to go to pest control.

The Placard rats and Monkey Queen and a few other prints from around 2004-5 were signed in this style but I can say with some degree of certainty there wasn’t an edition of this size published at that time. There would be multiple owners on this Forum and auction records by now for sure.

One of the reasons Banksy barn finds are so challenging is because they are so easy to make. So what matters most is provenance. That is why the COA process is taking so long. The “I found it at a yard sale in Philly” is not going to get very far on 99% of items…

Another Banksy stencil on eBay. Last one from this seller sold for just under US3k. Everything points to this being a bootleg; no information about how these were received; no information about the seller themselves.  Obviously some folks really think these are legit. What am I missing?

I've not seen a grenade canvas but I have seen them on squares of painted plywood that are genuine.

I've been given the option to purchase the street sign below, allegedly from the Scunthorpe area and wanted to get peoples opinions on if its likely to be genuine or not. I am aware that Pest Control wont provide an opinion so wanted to put it out to the crowd as to your thoughts.

Whether or not it's genuine becomes almost irrelevant. Even if you strongly believed it to be genuine, you would never know for sure, it would never be authenticated and it would never have any value except to a naïve buyer. 

In summary, it's a waste of money.

Stencils awful for a start and Banksys about placement/composition so he wouldn't of sprayed half a copper on the end of the sign, just looks messy

Unless you can photo match a piece to his website/instagram/one of his books, so wall and piece/banging your head against a brick wall/cut it out/existencilism, all street pieces are virtually worthless

Avoid ebay as well, the only reason it's on there in the first place is no other sale option (auction houses/dealers) will accept it as Banksy

This is an open composition which I like, but I agree that you'd need a photo match to even begin to get exited about.

Truth to all comments above. Additionally, the yellow sublayer for the face would never be painted so poorly - that alone tells me it's fake.

However, I’m going to hijack this post and ask a question if my own..

In 2011 I took a photo of this and posted it to my Insta (p.b.o.a.z) .. I questioned its authenticity then.. But now half midnight in a Monday evening ( half pissed on a train ride home after a night out) I’d thought I’d reach out and see if anyone recalls of any legit Banksy's from Birmingham (excluding the reindeer).

The reason I questioned its authenticity originally is because Would we think a Banksy tag would crack and peal like this once it’s aged… ( to me it would suggest something been peeled away after being over painted) or would it just be buffed over and not leave a mark?



I’m pretty pissed and this is from my Instagram from easily 13 years ago so happy to be wrong. (I’d like to think with my years of collecting, following and documenting I’m usually a good judge of fake and non fake)

P. S - I’m embarrassed before I even sober up that I’ve asked this, wondering if it could have been a sticker, also to open the debate up further, does anyone have any more information on the old school Birmingham Banksy work ( I know he did some before my time of collecting).
