Joakim Ojanen πΈπͺ Glass Sculpture β’ New Print Release , by touchdowntodd on Feb 21, 2019 20:42:16 GMT 1, I think we all need to learn that case is playing us by creating incredibly small releases that are offered to a select few. Such as the Mike Lee (personally passed on the offer)....
The reality is, they're a company that puts out nice $300-500 pieces that is trying to reinvent themselves as very high end
Not hating, not being negative, not even saying it's bad of them.. but let's not forget that...
All of these could sell at higher edition, lower cost.. but that wouldn't serve their new purpose. I'd expect bigger editions to start coming in at 1.5-3k instead of $350, with similar quality... Fomo will make people believe it's worth it now after a few secretive long pre sold out releases. Marketing 101

I understand the frustration though, but its no different than, Avant, Manfifold, Counter Editions, Pace or any other Art publisher out there.
Out of Interest why did you pass on on the Mike lee?

I'm aware of the past ones, I just think it's a trend pushing to something new
And in all honesty, love Mike.. love.. but bothered me the girl is grinding on the guy image wise, and 2k USD for 8" I just couldn't do. Disappointed as I was looking forward to it....

Value driven no doubt.. I knew about price long before offer.. 12" new ball game
Altho it still kills me he's got the girl grinding on the guy lol...
Tough price, size, etc for his current market IMHO... I actually know quite a few people that passed, only know one personally that bought

Id love that in a print.

Joakim Ojanen πΈπͺ Glass Sculpture β’ New Print Release , by Pavoni on May 2, 2019 6:40:54 GMT 1, Hello.
Getting interested in Joakim Ojanen.
Debating between the Duck Face and Twins prints, or one of the framed charcoal drawings.
Have you seen these prints in the flesh?
Would expect to pay around $650 USD for the prints(?), and the charcoal drawings (24 x 18") are $1100 USD.
Print or drawing?
Which print would anyone recommend?
I like his colors, but an OG drawing is tempting.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks!

Joakim Ojanen πΈπͺ Glass Sculpture β’ New Print Release , by blerd on May 2, 2019 7:35:28 GMT 1, Joakim is very good. The bronze that he recently released with case studyo is next level IMO.
I like that particular drawing because it has "Boy and BFF" in it. Two of his most enduring and recurring themes.
In general though I'd go for colour. Duck face is my favourite of the two prints.
If your money can stretch a little further I'd recommend a small sculpture. This is where the characters really come alive IMO.

Yeah, the ceramic heads & figures seem to be his prime contribution to Art overall.
Any idea on the sculpture pricing?

Yeah, the ceramic heads & figures seem to be his prime contribution to Art overall. Any idea on the sculpture pricing? His latest solo show at The Hole in New York saw a bit of a price jump. You used to me able to get a small sculpture around the 1100 to 2000 USD range. I'm guessing around 3kusd now. The latest show started around the 7.5kusd although much bigger and more complex.

I agree with earlier comments about color, tho the drawing has a great raw simplicity to it. I ultimately started with the ceramic pieces as no framing necessary. Liked being able to display thrm immediately.

A bronze piece is definitely on my list next.

Joakim Ojanen πΈπͺ Glass Sculpture β’ New Print Release , by jbelleit on Jun 19, 2019 13:58:31 GMT 1, Was curious if anyone had a small-ish Joakim Ojanen sculpture for sale. Looking to add one of his funky pieces to my home...
Anyone know the going rate for Joakim Ojanen's sculptures? I haven't contacted Richard Heller Gallery yet b/c I am scared to know what the big pieces are going for through a gallery.
Thanks in advance for any info on picking one up...
