Paco Pomet πͺπΈ Granada, Spain β’ New Paintings , by churchwood on Mar 14, 2016 13:10:30 GMT 1, Thanks for taking and posting all the pics.
It looks great - loads of space in the gallery and also it's not crammed either with people. My only exposure to him in real life was in WSM and his stuff there was good but it was a bit "information overload" in the room what with so much there from various artists and it being so busy too.
Would be great to get a chance to see these close up as what I have seen in the flesh has loads more impact than on a screen and also the size of some of those canvases is mind blowing.

I'm sorry to say that I feel the opposite. Like most, I thought the Cookie Monster piece from dismalland was fabulous. I haven't seen a piece since that I like anywhere near as much. There are so many other artists whose work excites me much more. Not doubting the talent. Simply, the paintings shared here do little for me. Good luck to everyone who loves his work, though.

Paco Pomet πͺπΈ Granada, Spain β’ New Paintings , by huxleypig on Apr 25, 2016 20:49:36 GMT 1,
Christian M Walter, Managing Director of Taller de SerigrafΓa, was named a FESPA Gold award winner in the βOriginal Serigraphies and GiclΓ©esβ category.
At the FESPA 2016 event in Amsterdam, printers from all over the world once again took part in the 2016 competition in the screen printing and digital imaging section. In 15 different categories, printed works from all over the world were brought together, compared and classified based on the quality of the printing
Christian M Walterβs screen printing workshop in Granada, Spain, was the entry that came away with the top prize in the category of Original Serigraphies and GiclΓ©esβ for a screen print by Andalusian artist Paco Pomet.
βRojoβ combines a range of experimental print techniques that not only make for great visually alluring design, but always consider their relationship to the subject matter. It shows blood poruing out of trees that lumberjacks have sawn in half.
Inspired by the 19th and 20th-century photography, using historical references to confront the viewer with repetitive human mistakes especially concerning environmental issues, the degradation of human behavior and relationships, the artist brings together antithetical aspects of a regressive society driven by a collective lack of responsibility and low-minded leaders.
This ironic Golden Age, generator of mankindβs persistent crisis, is constructed through a series of symbols and alterations, imaginary distortions and intense color interventions that reveal the Pacoβs essence, as well as the causes and effects of where we stand today.
In addition, the quality of the screen printing produced by Christian Walter, displayed a high degree of craftsmanship and technical skill which impressed the judges and netted him the Gold prize.
Christian spoke to FESPA about how he created the FESPA Gold Award-winning βRojoβ and the print studioβs plans to grow.
How did you feel when you realised you were a FESPA Gold Award winner?
Having won this prize, in this category, makes us feel like to be moving to the neighborhood of Leopold and Michael Domberger, Michel Caza, Chris Prater and Hans-Peter Haas⦠I can´t find another word better than thrilling!
Why did you decide to enter into this yearβs Awards program?
We had won a FESPA Silver Award before, in 2002, with a tiny work of the German artist Antje Wichtrey. That was a very artisan made and delicate piece printed on handmade Japanese paper. This time, with the Paco Pometβs creation βRojoβ, we were so sure to have done an outstanding job, in another, technological, computer assisted sense.
Can you tell us a bit more about the art print βRojoβ?
During almost five years, between job and job, we developed a kind of measure-tailored colour separation system for inhouseΒ΄use, which seemed to be ideal for the works of the Granada-based artist Paco Pomet. So we invited him to try it out.
In 2014, we released a screen print titled βInternationalβ. The original painting was then chosen to be exposed at BanksyΒ΄s Dismaland Bemusement Park in Weston-super-Mare last summer. We sold out all the prints we had left in a few days, and after that, we knew that we had to do an even better job with βRojoβ.
This was the first time I proofed this colour separation system with a 12-colour print, and here it is β¦ having been distinguished with the FESPA Gold Award!
In addition to the FESPA award-winning project, are there any other projects you have recently undertaken that standout?
Our printshop is run by only two people, Loli RodrΓguez Ruiz and myself. To have won this award is really a great achievement for us. We are specialized in fine-art prints and work for artists, galleries and all type of private and public entities.
We also publish serigraphs by contemporary artists. Among these, there is a collection of low priced βpocket sizeβ editions called BBB-Las Vegas, and a collection called βemergen&CΓa.β which aims to give visibility to the work of young artists.
Why would you recommend other printers/companies to enter the FESPA Awards 2017?
Anybody who is entirely convinced to have done something extraordinary, should send their submissions as these awards are a major showcase for a printerΒ΄s work and skills.
What are you hoping to gain from winning the FESPA Award?
I think itΒ΄s evident that there is no better publicity for a print studio than winning a prize as prestigious as a FESPA Gold Award.
Looking ahead to next year and beyond, how do you plan to continue this success?
In the near future, we will release some more prints of Paco Pomet and other Andalusian, Spanish and international artists. We are also working on an absolutely βplanet-friendlyβ method to print on walls and facades. So we are looking forward to entering these works next year in Hamburg at the FESPA Awards 2017.
What do you think of FESPA as organization?
FESPA is doing extraordinary work supporting the industry and printers, it is always interesting to participate at the FESPA fairs. Today it seems such shows focuses on big companies, and a bit more attention to the work of fine art studios and creators could be desirable, which is what the FESPA Awards offers.

βThe act of looking causes an excited perplexity in me. I can't get used to anything that I see, and so nothing bores me and nothing entirely convinces me. The manifestation of the visible is renewed every instant, although the appearances and our natural tendency to safety and protection lead us to think that we have found a valid, everlasting formula to interpret the world. It seems that this formula β normally dressed as culture β is determined to be a sort of armor-plating against something that we are fascinated by and that we fear: change, uncertainty, the unknown, the future. That culture we turn to often operates as a suit of armor, sunglasses, boots, a compass, air-conditioning apparatus or an umbrella and ends up preferring to be a prosthesis that protects us from the rough weather of lifeβs meaninglessness.β ~ Paco Pomet
