Received the email as well. Was hoping the new print would be more like his recent work (paintings from Richard Heller Gallery during Expo Chicago). While I appreciate the concept and how the artist and printer are "collaborating" the image itself falls a bit short of what u was expecting.

Oh but the price is great. Essentially you'd be getting a hand embellished print for €400 while his other prints that aren't hand embellished, were originally €700.

That Saunders Waterford paper is super nice. It Kaws/Pace/Brand X use the same paper and it is really lovely.

I really like pacos work because it has the funny tinge of street-art irony without being so explicit (think stop n search vs. international). This one feels a bit more on the nose then the majority of his work but still a fabulous image none the less. Plus, while the quality of his multiples does justify the previous price points, I think this one is priced a bit more accurately taking into account the current state of his market. No doubt it will be stunning, his last always is a showstopper for guests who often ignore the banksys and go straight for the paco.

I'll play devils advocate and take a radical stance on the meaning: maybe it's an image that is expressly anti-liberal and even trumpian on its ideological roots. I.e. That these blue collar workers (somber in their depiction) are vilified because their work has such a adverse effect on the environment, however paco portrays not only the workers themselves as humble, but points out that our current system of consumer based capitalism is necessary for all people. Even the preachy liberal artists of the world would not have their tools but for the hard work of these men.*

I like your observations, christoffer. I had similar thoughts myself. Not anti-liberal or Trumpian (to use your terms), but certainly a reflection on the irony of our own personal consumerism/materialism versus our avowed environmental protectionism. And I agree that using artists tools in the image is quite effective. Unlike many others, I rather like this a lot.
