Dismaland Currency and Canvas are all fakes, by Deleted on Sept 16, 2018 17:25:55 GMT 1, Let me start by expressing my gratitude to the members of this forum.
I am neither an expert nor a collector, but keen on Bansky’s message & graphics. I thought that a small memento from Dismaland would have been nice to look at in the morning, to make one think.
I bought a “Dismaland sterling” from an art gallery on Artsy, with two COAs (their own certificate plus one that came with the original purchase apparently – you can see them online). There was also proof of provenance that seemed legit (traced to an individual in the UK). Looked like a bone fide souvenir from Dismaland. The narrative was that Dismaland currency had sold out in one hour at the store, hence the rarity.
Then I found your forum.
In doubt, I wrote to Pest Control.
Even if this is a trivial matter for them, PCO was incredibly prompt, definitive, and overly informative.
It saved me almost $2000, which I got refunded.
To help any other uninformed buyers like me, I am posting here the original correspondence (with the express authorization from PCO):
<<Hi ****,
I’m afraid, the only currency Banksy ever produced were the Di-Faced Tenners, even these are not eligible for certificates of authentication as we don’t deem them to be commercial Banksy works of art. There are also many fakes in circulation.
The Dismaland currency you emailed us is entirely fake and has been created by someone who is not Banksy.
There were no ‘Dismaland’ canvases or currencies produced for sale at Dismaland.
The only certificates of authenticity that should be trusted are Pest Control Certificates of Authenticity, we urge people never to purchase works without this accompanying documentation; as the work is very likely to be fake.

It's like the auction houses that sell art "in the manner of..."
or the questionable memorabilia companies that provide certificates for signed merchandise and fake autographs using COAs from their "owned" or affiliated companies ----

In fact, many many Beatles autographs out there are forged! and people pay big bucks to scammers

The more COAs the realer it gets, as long as it follows the Fibonacci sequence (2 COAs = real, 3 COAs = real, 4 COAs= fake, 5 COAs = real, etc...). Dont get tricked by buying a Banksy that has 4, 6,7 or 9 COAs.
