poss scam involving Banksy print/Pest control, by withnail69 on May 23, 2018 21:09:08 GMT 1, Guys I would really appreciate some help/advice here. Please be 100% assured that everything I am about to say is 100% the truth...
In 2005 I entered a lottery draw with Pictures on Walls (exclusive banksy outlet closed in 2017) to win the chance to purchase a banksy print. ( I was a regular on pictures on walls and Had already purchased girl with balloon from them and much later would purchase one of the doughnut prints). Luckily I won the chance to purchase a limited print from them and bought it as a 60th birthday present for my Father. Until very recently it has been hanging in the same spot since then. In January my mother sent images to pest control in order to obtain a certificate of authentication. She received an email saying they were very busy and would be in touch later.. That was 4 months ago. My parents are in the process of moving out and weren't at the property where the banksy has (until recently) been for the last 13 years. A friend of the family who has keys arrived today to pick something up for them and when they went to leave they were pounced on by CID and Magistrates with search warrants. They claimed to be looking for a stolen banksy print and had a printout of the same print I had bought for my father. The friend told my mother they searched the property for 2 hours (which is crazy. Its a small place and its practically empty) looking for this banksy print. The friend wouldn't give out personal details. Waited for them to leave and got a number that they asked for my parents to call them back on. My mother told me all this over the phone about 7pm tonight. I went crazy at her. Of course this wasn't the police they were coming to scam you out of the print and steal it. your emails to pest control must have been intercepted etc... My brain was going at 100 mph at this stage... Turned out the phone number appears to be genuine police. The police read my mother the same limited edition number that is on the print and said it was reported stolen in 2010. It gets weirder and weirder. All this urgency with magistrates and search warrants for not even a print in banksy's most valuable and for a fictitious crime that was sposed to have been perpetrated 8 years ago. The Policeman said he believed my mother and if she hands over the print then it will be returned to them when the investigation is over.... More questions racing through my mind.. The only solid facts I can think of are... Instead of sending a certification of authentication Pest control contacted the police and told them my parents had a stolen banksy print.. How can the people reporting it stolen even prove it was ever in their possession? Its simple. They can't because it never has been.. I can't get pictures on walls to verify my story cause they no longer exist. My virginmedia email doesn't go back further than 2010 and I can't search my bank statements further back than 2007.. What else can I do? Does anyone on here know pictures on walls and how I can contact them to help resolve this? Thanks for your time and reading all this. I am so wound up that someone would try to do this to my parents I can't even begin to tell you.... What if the fraudsters managed to get a fake authenticated all that time ago or someone at pest control is involved in this scam?

poss scam involving Banksy print/Pest control, by Nick on May 23, 2018 21:38:14 GMT 1, Pictures on walls the gallery who sell prints have shut down. Pest control who authenticate all banksy works are very much still in existence. The fact you are the original purchaser will make this very easy to clear up as they will have a record of your purchase if it was won in a lottery.
Duplicate numbering did occur by accident in the old days when things were not very organised so it's still feasible, if unlikely, that someone else did have your print number and had it stolen.

Wow thats crazy and could explain a lot.. But wouldn't PC know of the duplicates? I only ask because they are the only way the police could have cross referenced the edition number and the address.

Yes 100% demand was getting high and so POW decided that everyone who emailed and expressed an interest would be entered into a draw and they would be offered first refusal. POW was still selling at very cheap prices even though they knew prices were going to rocket. Edited:- Sorry I trust your judgement more than mine on this but I'm pretty sure it was well before 2009

once upon a time, before most of you were zygotes, some middle class kids did the usual middle class thang and it lead to the production of weak images and shitty one liners designed for consumption by other bourgeois kids with similar derivate taste in other peopleβs culture. This is well documented across in hagiographic fireside storytelling.
At a loss for something else to fuck up after The invasion of Iraq, the Americans got involved and started churning this utter shit for profit

poss scam involving Banksy print/Pest control, by mope on May 24, 2018 9:41:52 GMT 1, Fast forward several years. The shoddy prints have gone stratospheric. Odds and sods that were outside of the recorded runs and were still circulating as decorative objects were pounced upon. A particularly large tranche hit the streets to sipplement the already fat stocks of oddities , overprints and outright fakes .some signed , most damaged or rejects. Some had the bright idea of numbering a few of these up and chancing a submission to the authenticators. As more crap emerged and more suckers were willing to pay for the brand, more chancers chucked a random number on a print and gave it a go. There are now hundreds of these in circulation.
The problem emerges if there are two of the same number out there and you are too late to claim it.

Your story has more holes in it then Danielle Westbrook's nose.
They do say from the beginning that itβs 100% the truth and I for one am not going to disbelieve somebody on the internet that says that. Oh and nice Danniella Westbrook mention, very niche ππΌ

poss scam involving Banksy print/Pest control, by Happy Shopper on May 24, 2018 10:17:09 GMT 1, Your bank should have a record of the payment, even if you can't go back that far online. Pest Control (same people as Pictures on Walls) should have a record of the original payment, and have your name, if it was purchased online with a card... although their record keeping was bad back in those days.

That is what is puzzling me for a crime that is allegedly 8 years old. Thankfully pest control have been in touch and are now helping me. More than I can say for some of the users on here! For those that have been helpful useful thank you very much for taking the time to reply
I'm just surprised that the Police actually went to so much effort on so little information. Me too. That is what is puzzling me for a crime that is allegedly 8 years old. Thankfully pest control have been in touch and are now helping me. More than I can say for some of the users on here! For those that have been helpful useful thank you very much for taking the time to reply

poss scam involving Banksy print/Pest control, by skAcid on May 24, 2018 10:49:42 GMT 1, That's what I was thinking. Wasn't the first lottery print around 2009/10?!?
Very Little Helps was a lottery at the end of 2008. Can't remember a lottery earlier than that... Anyone else know?
Yep, 2008 POW open day.

poss scam involving Banksy print/Pest control, by withnail69 on May 24, 2018 10:55:50 GMT 1, Your bank should have a record of the payment, even if you can't go back that far online. Pest Control (same people as Pictures on Walls) should have a record of the original payment, and have your name, if it was purchased online with a card... although their record keeping was bad back in those days. Wow thanks a lot for this info. I had no idea they were the same people. Thanks
