I must say. I'm in 2 minds over this mess. Yes I appreciate they are a small gallery not used to handling this level of interest. However they have been a little thin with the truth regarding communication, reasons for cancellations and pre sales.

Anyhow there will be something else round the corner and very soon they'll be something else to moan about ... wink..

I think those emails were an automated thing from their payment system... Not an intentional lie.

Yes same with me and I received a payment confirmation from MasterCard. It’s not cool to lie.

Also got the purchase and payment emails (my order was 600+) and then cancellation email yesterday, saying there was an error processing payment and my order could not be completed.

Whereas in reality the money was taken out my account instantly and hasn't been returned yet.

I’d love to see some more pics. From what I’ve seen I thought the show looked great. The doner kebab piece and the McDonald’s piece were my two favourites. I love the clean lines and simplicity of some areas of the canvas mixed with the more detailed bits

As promised, here is an introduction of a new amazingly talented artist named Oli Epp

Yesterday was the opening of his solo show at Semiose, please find hereunder some pics. At the moment he released two prints, one through Jealous london and one through Semiose Paris (2 last pics)

Born in 1994, Oli Epp lives and works in London. His paintings are autobiographical; sometimes confessional, sometimes irreverent and frequently handled with a humorous sense of pathos. Oli Epp focuses on situations that either involve him or
others, in public and private moments that pass by as unremarkable, at a glance. But documenting these unreported tragedies in paint is, for him, an act of discovery. He wants his imagery to feel familiar to as many people as possible; to draw out the ridiculous comedy of certain shared rituals and behaviours, by economizing on the essence of the situation and creating simplified humanoid characters, which lend a
sort of parody of the real world in the way that cartoons do. These avatars have oversized heads and are hermetically sealed by an absence of facial features, which is an exaggerated reflection on human interaction in the post digital age - these figures appear idiotically isolated, but adorned with earpieces, branded items of clothing and objects that are important to consumption and communication.
Oli Epp uses the visual language of branding and interplay between graphic and painterly surfaces to create optical confusion, echoing the way that our real and digital lives are merged. Graduated from the City & Guilds of London Art School in 2017, Oli Epp has received numerous awards and residencies. In 2018, Semiose organised his first gallery solo exhibition.
