What are these weird posts criticising the auction that then link to a thread about a completely different auction house? Looks like someone with an axe to grind.

I think they derailed as someone suggested pieces in a different auction house away from Tate ward?? I don’t know why someone would do that, they should just start their own thread about another auction house 🤦‍♂️

Anyway back to Tate Ward, yea some nice pieces away from the usual stuff

Just a word of warning about Tate Ward. Not only do they use stock photos, they also use stock descriptions. I've bought from them in the past and the description doesn't match up with the actual item's condition at all. Ask questions before bidding!

Stay clear of anything from this auction house. They are known on this forum to sell fakes and are as dodgy as you can get. Doesn’t matter if the item is £10 either - they cannot be trusted.

Trying to decide which is worse for fakes; the art business or the autograph business. Had a long argument with an auctioneers a couple of weeks back about a “genuine” Neil Armstrong that was clearly an autopen signature. Even paid $12 to have Steve Zarelli take a look for authentication (he is Mr. Space Autograph globally) and he agreed and the auctioneers STILL sold it as real as the vendor had told them it was. I love auctions, but the internet has allowed so many scammers to start up and take people for a ride that it’s taking a lot of the fun out of the whole process, no matter what you’re buying…

I’ve got several items listed in this sale and I can assure you they’re absolutely authentic.

Meanwhile there are auction houses like TGP who sell Banksy “originals” on cardboard every auction… (only £500!)

Completely agree and same as you I have a fair few authentic pieces in here. Only good experiences with Tate Ward!

Auction lots closing now every minute but some good items if you look closely between the regular stuff. Check for words like ‘Unique’ in the description

Hi all, just thought I would point out that the Vanguarts Auction is now live on Artsy. Artists include, Anna Weyant, Charlotte Keates, Invader, Kaws, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Ayako Rokkaku, Javier Calleja and many more. Some at very attractive estimates!

I also see a good deal on a Lee Bae sculpture that some members might be interested in.

Never heard of Vanguart Auctions, who are they? 

I thought at first it was Vanguard Street Art from Bristol or Vanguard gallery but doesn’t seem connected to either of them.

Google reveals nothing apart from their website or instagram comes up.

The instagram was only set up in February yet has almost 14k followers (most bought I’d imagine) 



The website about section shows no physical location despite claiming to be the ‘Worlds premier location for contemporary art auctions’ 

No mention on the website of who the specialists are behind the scenes.

This appears to be their first auction, are you abc anything to do with them?

It's been run through Arsty, who offer a guarantee for purchases under a $100k, so imagine the risk is limited.

From what I have heard the ones having launched this (for now) online auction room are quite known on the market and especially the secondary market. A logical evolution then. 

Not everyone is backed by Artsy, so I suppose they have a solid backbone.
