Ok so everyone who wants one at cost should buy up the remaining ones on eBay to get the sellers name and pass onto GP?

Ingenious, but still a gamble for the buyer. As some have mentioned could be a front account but not that easy to fake a name or from address in the USA. Also if shipping from eBay it ties to PayPal address, correct.
What im curious on is how many of the people complaining actually wanted one and follow through but this is a smart way to further combat the flipping.

I’d guess sellers waiting until in hand now -only 4 sold what’s GP announced -there was ton on eBay last night

They could do time releases at any time if they really wanted the flipping stopped. But what business wants to actually stop having their prices driven up?

To keep fans of the art involved with the piece and keeps building the hype. They could do time releases at any time if they really wanted the flipping stopped. But what business wants to actually stop having their prices driven up? Agreed. There's an easy solution, but flippers help all involved really. Gives the artist more hype along with the gallery which will help them raise prices on future releases. Prices have slowly krept up from smaller, lesser known artists to the big ones. It's all about the $ which is fine. GP isn't a charity, but this frenzy could be easily stopped but cash is king.

It takes a talented developer who has experience with this issue to try and stay ahead of the next wave of bot development. Majority's default solution is, "Just do a raffle / lotto!" That's a poor idea because it is possible and probably, the raffle will be tainted with hundreds-thousands of entries from the same source; leaving the average person's one or two entries with a fraction of a chance. Next solution is, "Timed release!" If you were an artist, why would you want to kill your own hype and value on the secondary markets? Next answer I see is, "Move away from Shopify!" Sure, then on releases the site can crash 10 seconds before due to all the traffic, and by the time you get the page to load, it'll be out of stock because bots will eat on the server. It's much more frustrating to stare at a blank white page and not even get to see it in stock.
"Flipping" is apart of any healthy market. That should be nobody's issue, because it is a reality. If you wanna stop "flipping", stop buying the art, kill the demand...you see where I'm going?
The more hyped these releases become, the more bots will come in. Maybe they need someone like me to help them from the inside...

If you wanna stop "flipping", stop buying the art, kill the demand...you see where I'm going? The more hyped these releases become, the more bots will come in. Maybe they need someone like me to help them from the inside... Flipping occurs when the demand greatly outweighs the supply. An easy solution would be creating bigger editions or raising the price. The problem is what is the true value of the art being sold here? Flippers sell the idea of the art seconds after buying. So people buy from someone who doesn't even have the item. That is insane to me. The price is high at first due to the frenzy, then it slowly goes back down. So flipping creates an unstable market. There are pieces that are selling for half the flipper/release price right now.
Short term seems great for all involved, but not so sure about longterm. I wouldn't call the market healthy though. It is artificially inflated IMO. There are other markets where this is occurring as well.

Taking the flippers and bots out will not make the change bigger it will still be sold out in a few seconds/minutes and there will be still people dissapointed.

I think £1000 is ok of a Original edition of 10 Think it will look pretty cool framed with glass either side of the frame I’m sure it is worth it (I think just about any Whatson at release price is) but I wouldn’t worry about it or how much. Just frame it and enjoy it. And enjoy the fact that you were one of the lucky few to score something so rare.

I have a kunstrasen “it’s what you make of it” acryic and do like the medium. I do get a lot of light reflection from it though.

Which colour did you get? The white / light grey acrylic would have been my preferred choice. Are you UK based? I may be willing to trade the Hand Finished edition plus cash if your suffering from buyers remorse or just prefer a 'print' that will not require a custom frame to mount it!
