Hello everybody

I have been offered a Paint Pot Angel in Germany and wasn't totally sure how legitimate or what it might be worth. The person selling it has asked for €1000. Thanks very much. I know it was only sold for a very short time when it originally came out.

There were 2 versions of this, one with the background left in and one like you have been offered. This looks legitimate. Value is tricky as there isn’t much in the way of previous sales.

Its not many of this for sale because they sold with out authorization from banksy .

Hi beatlebum,

I gave away one of my prints 2 weeks ago. Your pictures look good to me. But be careful. There are also some fakes in circulation. The best way to recognise them is by the sticker on the back. Look for the Bristol museums logo. In the original version, the stickers are printed on brown natural paper, the copies have white stickers. However, the logo is copied from a "brown template". You can see this because the original brown colour is still visible in the circle of the logo - but the rest of the sticker is white. That is quite obvious. I hope this helps you.

I think you may have had a sense of humour by pass. My comment about the price was tongue in cheek. I listed a Banksy Silver Flags was happy to list my price. FS listings used to include this information, maybe your side of collecting is different.

Thanks. I prefer to DM on this occasion because I want to- this is a love/hate item as you can already tell! 🙈 And I am too tired for banter. Sorry- just the way I am now. Online is generally poster around £2500 as a kind person shared with me. So my price is very much below this.

If people are interested they will message. 🤷‍♀️

Just a supposition, I did not asked yet the price ( of final price) and I won't. Joke of course ; )

There were two versions of this print. One with the in situ background and plinth as photographed (below) and a second version with the photoshopped white background. There must be more out there, but haven’t seen another with the original background for sale.
Have also seen fakes which didn’t have the credit line at the bottom of the print.

I had seen them a few weeks before they were posted on here. I was going to go back at a later stage to pick one up. I assumed they were official, would always be available and were known about. I was surprised to see the reaction here and elsewhere afterwards.

Interesting to see the close up photos of the stickers on the back of the unopened poster, good information to know to help spot possible fakes.

How many of these Withdrawn Banksy posters do you think eventually got out into circulation? I guess they sold a lot, I mean popularity was high, surely they sold like hotcakes right up until it was withdrawn.
