Sorry, what does that mean?
It's a photograph of a statue that's in the museum that has been made into a poster by the museum, isn't it?
And the Museum is selling them. So My answer would be yes its authorised by the Museum
Have I missed something?

According to the description, it’s a “Banksy print...” So considering it’s from the only place that has had a Banksy museum show, it’s fair to assume these aren’t just randomly produced by museum staff creating unofficial stuff on a whim. But rather Banksy has given approval.

Would he have to if the piece is part of the museum’s collection?

so its only official if the artist authorises it?
It's unofficial if the museum boss people decide to produce posters of things that are in their museum?
Does it matter or make a difference who actually owns the item?

I would think so... Figure if you or I owned the piece we couldn’t reproduce an image of it for profit I’d imagine...

Bristol Museum • Paint Pot Angel Poster • WITHDRAWN , by jaym3 on Jan 10, 2018 17:24:21 GMT 1, One would think whether it is required of them or not that it would be common courtesy of the museum to contact the artist to let them know that they intend to sell a print or some other item based off their artwork.
If B said no, do you think the museum would sell it anyways? Doubt it.

It doesn’t have to be and it isn’t. It’s fairly clear that the member asking if it came with a coa was joking. The discussion as to whether an artist has to give permission to a museum for the sale of a poster of a piece in their collection is a perfectly valid point for discussion, and is of interest to me, solely because I don’t know the answer. It has nothing to do with this particular, as you say, “fiver” poster, but is of general interest, in my opinion.
