Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Wearology on Sept 16, 2017 21:29:52 GMT 1, Is it fair though to focus only on Expresso Beans? What about long-term members of this forum? The ones who, while commenting about the price increases of the eB ay auction, sound like they're about to have an orgasm? An example to illustrate: "1550 BSP with 4 days to go - where this print with stop nobody knows !!!!!!"When reading posts like that, I'm grateful to be behind a computer screen, somewhere very far away. As usual, a fair point, well made. I've made my despair at posts hyping the value of prints well known. My post last night was born out of fustration, and was not, I'm afraid, one upon which I took a great deal of care when writing. I made an attempt at a joke and used some poetry. I commented when it was 10% the now asking price. That is far from hyping anything up - just some commentary on a relevant topic. It seems any comments that I make on this board once I became an assistant moderator fall under the category - damned if I do and damned if I don't.

I'm sorry Wear, I didn't see that post. I've not been calling in as much as I used to.

Anyone thinking these are worth the same as real screenprints are bonkers!

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by met on Sept 16, 2017 22:36:48 GMT 1, Honestly. I googled it and a sneaker store came up. I see nothing defining 'an American sneaker boy'. Why not share details of a new artist you have found? Or an art exhibition that you have been to? Or some street art that you've seen? Or share some of your collection? Or if you are unable to do any if that, why not mention a film you've seen or a book you've read? Or a funny little video you've watched? Why not contribute instead of trying to constantly irritate. Is it your aim to take all the enjoyment out of this forum for others?
I blame you, Coach, for your lack of discernment. You have the wisdom to foresee where your posts will lead.
The consequence of engaging in this case — which is to say acknowledging and indulging — is entirely predictable. Because a pattern of behaviour has already been repeatedly established for years now.
And that consequence is to prolong the misery endured by every other person who reads this forum.
Each reply (whether by quoting or not) serves to legitimise someone who's disingenuous and isn't playing by the same rules as you. It seems futile to respond to characters one might otherwise expect to find loitering in the bowels of the 'Comments' section of YouTube or MailOnline.
Given their extensive track record, do you believe you can "turn" them? Have a reasonable discussion until they see the error in their ways? Would a putdown (even if amusing) or an impatient swipe ever stand a chance of being effective? Or would it merely give them oxygen, the encouragement they're waiting for to continue their campaign of baiting?
Countless individuals have a void in their lives. And some choose to fill this void with pettiness, like trying to irritate other people. Merely to pass the time. It's an outlet. A coping mechanism for dealing with unhappiness or frustration.
____________
To be clear, this isn't about shutting down debate or quashing differences in opinion. I applaud those who challenge received wisdom when their views are considered, informed and sincerely-held.
But I've little patience for intellectual dishonesty — which is an abuse of our hard-fought right to free speech. Nor do I have time for drone-like repetition, arguments that are poorly thought out or based on ignorance, or provocation just for the sake of it.
____________
While the above has been a reply to Coach, responsibility here is a shared one. Having skimmed through four or five threads this evening, already there are plenty of other members on my list:

In the interest of a more intelligent and rewarding forum, I propose self-restraint. You never have an obligation to rise. There's never any need to bite. Consider this a call to inaction. I agree but somehow I have the feeling Jim Carrey just read that to me, and what a great man he is too! SMOKING!!!!!!

I too accept the call to inaction, it's just that I am suffering with insomnia for the past FU#@ing!!!!! 19th Months and have nothing better to do with my time in the wee early hours.....but I will aim to try harder, in my defense my comments are positive and not negative but point taken, yes, I will leave it at that!

please just don't post ebay' links and two of them were the same.
Just regarding the last one "local craftspeople" would never have come up with "Brian" with reference to the Monty Python film which only backs up my allegations that these were produced in the U.K by Banksy's team.
You know I am right Mr B!!

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Rouen Cathedral on Sept 17, 2017 1:11:06 GMT 1, Some thoughtful opinion about the box set 'prints'.
As a piece of art i think it's okay. We've heard plenty on the lack of detail of the image. The added stone adds a nice concept. The description is very vague and personally it's hard to consider these more than a poster with an authorized concept layout by banksy. Which I guess is better then anything else on recent years.
Now that these secondary sales are occurring What was the purpose of these works? There is a reason banksy has avoided releasing work. It's this exact thing he's been avoiding no? But then that brings to question why do it now?
It can't be for the 'true fans'? Alot of those people probably already visited the hotel. The confusion and shortage is also confusing.
Surely banksy knew this would occur. The hyping the pumping of prices and ultimately these pieces probably ending up in the rich collections across the globe. That is if these prices hold true. Which personally I don't see happening.
So why do it? Bring attention to the hotel? Sure that would be a good thing but if it's people just going to get an item to flip is that really worth it?
Is it to bring attention to the artist? The gold old here you go print for the masses when in reality it's not. That does assume prices will stay high. Personally I could see these being not much more than double cost in 6 months. That is if they are actually unlimited and actually available as stated. If that becomes the case I think they will be a very successful piece of art.
The problem is they are 'limited' and inaccessible so far. Hopefully that changes. If it doesn't I don't quite understand the concept of the work, the timing and the vagueness behind them. It seems to pump the artist first with a little bump to the hotel. I don't see that as sucessful.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Deleted on Sept 17, 2017 6:36:23 GMT 1, Why not share details of a new artist you have found? It seems futile to respond to characters one might otherwise expect to find loitering in the bowels of the 'Comments' section of You Tube or Mail Online. ____________ To be clear, this isn't about shutting down debate or quashing differences in opinion. I applaud those who challenge received wisdom when their views are considered, informed and sincerely-held. But I've little patience for intellectual dishonesty — which is an abuse of our hard-fought right to free speech. The walls are painted by local artists so drip through 8/9 at a time around 10:30 am after being signed off via email.
Its like most shows that only sell in person, just this happens to be a war zone so less appealing and politically impossible for some

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Deleted on Sept 17, 2017 6:43:54 GMT 1, ... has anyone got a photo of the (official) walled off hotel shop?
Some info:
There is no new shop as such, it is simply the old shop next to the museum.
The prints as stated earlier are in customs. If you come to the hotel and they do not have a copy they will ship when they do. There is no rush!
Prepare for a grilling on the way!
You can now choose different types of egg at breakfast.
The staff are incredible.

You clearly haven't seen one because if you had you would be using the word print rather than poster
The management are well aware of the situation about these prints on eBay. There is nothing they can do about customs. They come in batches like the walls. As mentioned I have heard it said that they are signed off by Banksy each time they are sold. Can't be released until then. The print situation is a pain, but mainly for the staff.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Deleted on Sept 17, 2017 10:57:16 GMT 1, ... has anyone got a photo of the (official) walled off hotel shop? Some info: There is no new shop as such, it is simply the old shop next to the museum. The prints as stated earlier are in customs. If you come to the hotel and they do not have a copy they will ship when they do. There is no rush! Prepare for a grilling on the way! You can now choose different types of egg at breakfast. The staff are incredible.
Better than that
They have beer now, didn't have beer first time I went

Well what are they? What's the printing process? 'Art print' means nothing these days. Well actually it means about 20 different things. That's part of the vagueness I mentioned above. So I'm assuming you saw one? Please do share what it actually is if you can. A lot of people saying a lot of different things so far

Then what is it? Why the sharp rude response.
No one has any information on what these actually are?
Saying you held one and it's not a poster isn't much help.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Reptile 072 on Sept 17, 2017 16:46:42 GMT 1, I haven't read all the comments, but what the hell is going on in this thread? This item is unsigned, unnumbered and unlimited. If you see suspiciously high prices on the aftermarket (like on ebay), it's because there are shill bids and/or the people bidding are not aware that these are unlimited. These are unrealistic prices. End of story. Don't see what all the fuss is about.
