“What’s important to remember is that while barriers have been used to divide us, as humans we are all the same. Some are more privileged than others, but with that privilege comes a responsibility to do more.”
World-renowned artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, and New York City's premier presenter of contemporary outdoor art, Public Art Fund, are working together to bring an important new art exhibition to the streets of NYC from October to February.
In response to the worldwide plight of migrants and refugees, divisive immigration and border control policies, and the global rise in nationalism, the exhibition, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors, will be installed at 300 + sites spanning dozens of New York City neighborhoods in all five boroughs.
Drawing on the artist’s personal experience being detained by the Chinese government and as well as his visits with some of the world’s most vulnerable populations at refugee camps and borders worldwide, the show will make a powerful statement about division and separation at a global, national, local, and personal level.

Separate project but relevant. Trailer for the documentary 'Human Flow', just shown at Venice Film Festival.

Ai Weiwei NYC Oct-12 - Feb 11 , by mash on Oct 16, 2017 17:50:55 GMT 1, Anyone planning on picking either of these up tomorrow? $650 EDIT: $675, run of 1000. They’re unnumbered , but have a signature etched into the bottom.
The $100 print is also a run of 1000, but are unsigned and unnumbered.

Ai Weiwei NYC Oct-12 - Feb 11 , by kjg**** on Oct 16, 2017 18:36:25 GMT 1, Quite a large edition, unsigned and unnumbered.
Will this be a quick sell out? I doubt it. What do you guys think?

Ai Weiwei NYC Oct-12 - Feb 11 , by mash on Oct 16, 2017 21:56:17 GMT 1, Here's the info I have from Public Art Forum:
"Each edition is currently being released in a group of 1000 exclusively to eBay. Odyssey is an offset print on paper and is unsigned. Artist's Hand is electroplated rhodium on cast urethane resin and will have an etched signature on the base. Neither edition is numbered. All works will ship worldwide, though we cannot confirm international shipping rates at this time. Works will ship free to the United States."

Actually wonder if they'll shift them all.

Ai Weiwei NYC Oct-12 - Feb 11 , by expresspost on Oct 16, 2017 22:14:18 GMT 1, All artworks come with a COA, though I was unable to confirm if the artist has signed them.
I don't think Arsham's sculptures are physically signed or numbered either, just their COAs. I guess that's the only difference between the two.

I like it, and I will be getting one.
It will pair up nicely with my Maurizio Cattelan L.O.V.E. Statue.

Ai Weiwei NYC Oct-12 - Feb 11 , by hairbland on Oct 17, 2017 1:02:24 GMT 1, I checked out the Washington Square Park Arch today cool, will check a few out during the next week and then bike around next w/e with gf checking out others, they have a downloadable map. Unisphere has one around it you can climb on and a neat show at the Queens Museum "Unbuilt New York".
