there's a photography gallery upstairs in Snoopers Paradise that's worth a look. S/paradise is on the laines, just follow all the people and you'll find it.
thats my $0.02

Visit BRIGHTON π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Strange Al on May 25, 2007 11:37:01 GMT 1, In terms of street works, it's also worth checking out New England street, which is behind the station and not far from O Contemporary and the Banksy Kissing Coppers. Theres a very long wall, which was sprayed up in a legal graff jam last year. There's some really awesome pieces.
Also, the other day I noticed a nice little stencil piece of an African Girl just up Upper Gloucester road. It was on some boarding used to cover a smashed shop window on the right hand side. That's also just by the station and so may be worth a look.
Art Republic is always worth checking out. It's obviously a shop rather than a Gallery, but they have some awesome stuff. Loads of it framed too and on the walls.
Finally, it's the Brighton Festival at the moment (last day on Sunday), which means there are still loads of open houses. Grab a festival brochure when you arrive in Brighton and take a look at what's still on.

Visit BRIGHTON π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Strange Al on May 25, 2007 11:57:14 GMT 1, psp - Open Houses are basically where artist's open up their own homes to the public so people can come and look at their art. Basically a gallery at home. Great way to see new works and meet some artists.
mcmcmc - I should have said the open houses are normally listed as part of the Fringe Festival - the alternative part of the Brighton festival. You can download the listings here: www.brightonfestivalfringe.org.uk/listings/

Not sure on the street names etc, but at the far end of the lanes (furthest east), there's usually some great graf. I took these last year (apologies if these are ones already mentioned). Worth a look if this is your sort of thing

Visit BRIGHTON π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by fecam on Oct 25, 2007 16:59:18 GMT 1, Check rarekind for original street art at a reasonable price (just down the road from O Contemporary). Daz (fella in charge) has been hanging out with Tfreak recently & has a couple of Tfreak inspired canvases for sale..
If you can get the search function to work, you'll find other Brighton related threads somewhere...

Visit BRIGHTON π¬π§ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by jynormous on Jan 9, 2008 10:21:28 GMT 1, Hi everyone, Iβm heading down to Brighton on the weekend for the first stop of my week long south west England tour. Can someone please mention some of the best places to see some street art? Also, Iβm guessing there will be at least one gallery there, can someone mention the name and if it will be open Saturday. Iβm really interested to see Nick Walkerβs stuff on the street. Is there anything else I should be doing in Brighton? Thanks guys and girls, Jy.

JY - are you going to Bristol or Brighton? I only ask cos Brighton is South East England and Nick Walker is a Bristol Boy.
Assuming that you do mean Brighton - when you go to the North Lanes (as CK has suggested) make sure that you take a walk down Kensington Street, which runs parallel with Kensington Gardens. There's some stunning work there, including this for example:
I won't spoil the suprise and post any more pics.
Plus, you should definitely check out Art Republic on Bond Street - www.artrepublic.com/

Ahhhh.....Bristol....right. Sorry, too many towns with B's in their names. I'm actually going to be in Bristol maybe Wednesday or Thursday next week so if you have some good ideas and locations for there, they would be a big help too.
Also, thanks for the info everyone, I'm taking my D80 so I'm sure to get some good pics!
Peace \m/

That's absolutely superb! I saw that picture on someone's flickr page (might have been yours) a while ago and then couldn't find it again when I looked. When I first saw the allegiance to the bag piece I was comparing it in my head with that one as the best use of the background for a piece and IMO that one is still miles ahead. Brilliant!
