Where are people demanding?
Its not the lower price. Its the price they sold for on an auction
How do you think auctions work?
Do you think if he had submitted to say Bonhams and they had sold for ยฃ50 that he could ask for them back? Or do you think that maybe, just maybe he could have paid the extra and put a reserve on them rather than spitting the dummy because they didn't sell for what he wanted and for that he then decides not to abide by the auction rules.
I would sell the thing, lick my wounds, learn from it and move on

Sold - thanks for the harassment. Dumpster fire. , by aml on Aug 14, 2017 20:49:39 GMT 1, It's not even that. The platform is set up so there are minimal consequences for withdrawing from a sale. The only recourse on the buyer's end is to leave negative feedback, which they have done. Perhaps if it was a higher dollar value item, they could attempt to sue the seller for not honouring the contract, but I'm not sure how successful such a suit would be.
Comparing to Bonhams or the like doesn't make any sense, as they take possession of the item for the auction, so it would be impossible to withdraw your item after a poor result without facing some kind of strict financial penalty, or enforcement of the contracted sale.

It's a simple best effort auction site. There are obviously issues, but what are they supposed to do? Show up at his house and demand the print at gunpoint???

LOL, no
I just ramble on here my grievances about certain things.
I won a few years back a signed CND from a London gallery owner who auctioned it on ebay
The guy wouldn't let me have it as it didn't sell for what he wanted it to sell for
i didn't get a gun or threaten or anything, but it did piss me off a bit, so much so that i can still remember it, and my memory is shocking :-)

Absolutely. The seller should have had the decency to shill bid the auction up to a price he would be happy with, just like everyone else seems to. This just seems lazy ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

come on y'all. that's no way even close to a fair price. id be annoyed if i won the auction, but i get it. it happens. at the end of the day, they're his prints. if he doesnt want to let them go at that price - his purgative.

Sold - thanks for the harassment. Dumpster fire. , by whob1 on Aug 14, 2017 23:21:20 GMT 1, You dont win auctions, you pay more than everyone else in the crowd is willing to pay. Who the crowd is a risk you take when selling in an auction. If the buyer is able to sell to another crowd for more money, you have earned money. Thats always a risk. If you dont want to take the risk with auction, try selling it another place first
The seller has not done anything wrong according to the platform where he sells, but deserve his negative comment on ebay, so another time when he sells, the buyers can be aware that he has cancelled before.

You limit your pool of buyers when selling a set. However, selling a set does cut down on shipping so there's that.

Sold - thanks for the harassment. Dumpster fire. , by thinker82 on Aug 15, 2017 0:09:36 GMT 1, Wait, this whole set sold for $1300 and it's being honored? Wow. Tough to argue because the seller should have been more careful, but wow, they just got fleeced! Let's be honest, this is robbery. Quite a come up for the buyer, wish it had been me. I follow this seller and they have a great collection, really surprised this happened to a veteran collector. Bummer.

Sold - thanks for the harassment. Dumpster fire. , by J0NNY on Aug 15, 2017 0:42:23 GMT 1, I can't believe the attitude of the seller here. Acting like a baby, like it's the buyers fault, like it the forums fault. Either honour it and move on and accept that it was a lazy sale and you should of checked it before - or don't honour it and take the deserved negative feedback and comments on the chin and move on.

Dumpster fire. , by strongsauzej on Aug 15, 2017 0:53:41 GMT 1, believe potential buyers backed away cuz of the global shipping program because of the custom fees they will have to takeup, as ebay will list the full value of the auction on the parcel. Not really sure what you were trying to accomplish with creating a $1 auction for a set of prints worth $2000+. You do know that if you cancel the auction early with bids already placed, you still incur fees.

Lack of planning, preparation or talent. 2. Random events that effectively sabotage the effort (i.e., technical problems).

Sold - thanks for the harassment. Dumpster fire. , by Winks on Aug 15, 2017 8:25:00 GMT 1, My two cents.
The seller took this to EBay and didn't do anything wrong on the forum. Slating him on the forum is unnecessary. This is what the Feedback on EBay is for.
The hypocrisy is incredible, how many on here have made offers and then gone silent? How many have agreed a sale and then got a better offer elsewhere?
The guy made a mistake but is expected to lose out due to some EBay honour code that only a few adhere to. EBay is a hive of scum and villainy.
What happens on EBay stays on EBay

The street art scene has gotten really tough now. Mary Poppins etiquette school... losing a days pay on a set of posters is not nearly as bad as all of this.

In fact, don't do anything for a few days. Use the time to think about a response with a clear mind. Selling out of anger because a few users question your integrity would be the least prudent thing to do at the moment. Why not consider sending the buyer something - a book maybe, or one of your amazing ceramic pieces - as consolation? You prove nothing by essentially giving your set away because of an oversight.
