Is Banksy Robert Del Naja?, by Rouen Cathedral on Aug 3, 2017 1:29:34 GMT 1, Okay. But I'm not an artist or a art student so me have no work to prove my worth doesn't mean jack. Kind of like all the art professors egging students to shock shock shock for the sake of shocking. That's poor teaching. My point is a critique of the instruction not the students so don't assign that statement to me. And you evidence/experience of art tutors at art colleges teaching (egging to use your pejorative term) this is?
I've taken art studios at college. I've witnessed many art charettes and I've worked in art buildings and been exposed to it.

That's not very good proof. I've seen the argument it is him. Show me the truth that it's someone else.

Wouldn't be surprised if these stories weren't manufactured by Jo Brooks. I'm not interested in outing him. I'd only want to track him down to buy him a beer and have a chat so i'll leave it there.

Couldn't the same be said for the exact opposite. Other than inverstement purposes I can't see any reason to stop this going.
I've seen no one post anything speculating banksy is someone else yet. Besides that one photo of a guy holding a stencil what other proof is there that it's someone else?

No. He has chosen to work anonymously. That should be respected.

Is Banksy Robert Del Naja?, by nex on Aug 3, 2017 12:41:25 GMT 1, There's several interesting things I noticed in watching this... 1. He says "we" a lot. I'm not sure who he's talking about, but I assume a group of artists he's working with, doing similar stuff. 2. In Exit Through the Gift Shop the guy from POW says no one else is Bristol was doing stencils, but here's 3D doing a stencil! I don't know what this means, and I still don't think he's Banksy... but it seems clearer they worked together. 1. yes
2. Banksy has said he looked up to Robert, that he was on the streets before him, but clearly they knew/know each other and were within a group of graffiti artists in Bristol

Not really, tbh the whole thing is pretty obsessive, men wanting to know what another man that paints pictures looks like is a bit weird.
Remember when you realised the tooth fairy was your mum ? Some things are best just left unconfirmed

Do you see any similarities in the artistic output of 3D and Banksy? Forgetting whether they have the same nose, similar accents, similar travel patterns at times, is there anything you see in the work of either artist that makes you think they are the same person?
(To avoid any confusion, I'm not offering this as proof of any kind)

(To avoid any confusion, I'm not offering this as proof of any kind) One would assume that if they are the same the two alias's would be used as different creative purposes. 3D as the more abstract anti war thing and Banksy as the snappy puns on walls.
Incidentally, I don't think they're the same. But rather they are from the same very tight knit collective that also includes Jamie Hewlit. It's feasible they have and still are collaborating together.
Another thought on this is the Banksy split from Laz but 3D is very much still with Laz. Could that be an elaborate cover story? I doubt it.

Not even lunchtime and another illusion shattered. I did wonder how she was so cash rich (the tooth fairy...not my mother).

Is Banksy Robert Del Naja?, by jimbofatz on Aug 3, 2017 14:50:51 GMT 1, This isn't about people pushing the Banksy is Robert Del Naja theory for gain. It's the complete opposite people on here are denying it because they are hanging on to a bunch of worthless post banksy limited edition prints "in the style of urban art". The people that will benefit from this being true are those in his inner circle. There will be the prints that are related to the work of Robert Del Naja and than a dumpster fire for the rest of it. No one has anything enlightening to say on the subject here to prove its not him. This community (for the most part) is living in a bubble holding on to a bunch of losing lotto tickets trying to protect investments and galleries.
As Ive said before at this point IF Banksy finishes his career as an unknown entity -- he will forever be known or presumed to be Robert Del Naja. Books will be written/there is a mountain of evidence (almost weekly). So the draw will go to Robert Del Naja. On the other hand IF Banksy ever reveals himself it is incredibly likely at this point that Robert Del Naja is the man.

I don't know why you'd think this would effect Banksy prices? It's not like discovering he's Rolf Harris... although Banksy has been quiet since Harris was put away.... Hang ON!!
Also, have you seen any real proof of this claim? Anything more convincing than the evidence against?
As mentioned earlier, somewhere, that 3D and Banksy both used to be represented by Lazarides, but now only 3D is, is almost more proof that they're different people than anything I've seen. The way Laz talks about Banksy still, and got angry about Dismaland... doesn't seem likely he's also 3D... Does it?

Is Banksy Robert Del Naja?, by jimbofatz on Aug 3, 2017 15:35:28 GMT 1, I'm not a fortune teller but I think...this would increase the value of Banksy's artwork or at least it would remain the same. I can't see how it would hurt it. Robert Del Naja has identical political beliefs to Banksy and pushes the same agendas. So isolating a large segment of his market wouldn't happen. Also, I think people would enjoy being able to connect all the dots he's pretty prolific.
It's the unrelated artists that have been working and selling under the urban art banner that would lose luster and be hurt financially and there are lots of those. That's who would take the hit.
Lazarides like most people in the art world is still allowed to have strong opinions on shows regardless of who he represents. A good fit is still a good fit business wise.

Why do you think unrelated artists would suffer from this? What relation does it have? Nothing would change as far as I can see and most of those artists (the many that have worked with POW on various shows and events, or just in the street) will probably already know exactly who Banksy is anyway.
You think Laz would have been so angry at Banksy for apparently stealing his theme park idea, and undermining the similar group show he had planned for that year... and that person is also 3D? Not likely is it?

Everything you said about the way he looks (jimmy neil and skinner) all comes from the Simon Hattenstone article in the guardian. So you have one article. The same article with this passage..."How do I know you are Banksy? "You have no guarantee of that whatsoever."

Surely that has nothing to do with Banksy being 3D? Banksy is already known as the real deal, no?
Why do you think unrelated artists would suffer from this? What relation does it have? Nothing would change as far as I can see and most of those artists (the many that have worked with POW on various shows and events, or just in the street) will probably already know exactly who Banksy is anyway. You think Laz would have been so angry at Banksy for apparently stealing his theme park idea, and undermining the similar group show he had planned for that year... and that person is also 3D? Not likely is it? I think unrelated artists will suffer in the same way copy cat artists of other art movements have suffered. People will recognize the real deal. Surely that has nothing to do with Banksy being 3D? Banksy is already known as the real deal, no?

Is Banksy Robert Del Naja?, by jimbofatz on Aug 3, 2017 16:08:28 GMT 1, I think unrelated artists will suffer in the same way copy cat artists of other art movements have suffered. People will recognize the real deal. Surely that has nothing to do with Banksy being 3D? Banksy is already known as the real deal, no? It's not going to hurt Banksy or Massive Attack or the Wild Bunch. It's just going to be the work of Robert Del Naja which is pretty insane he's done all that. Absolutely, he is the real deal. Super prolific guy.

At that point, shouldn't Blek get much, much, much more credit and value?

Is Banksy Robert Del Naja?, by Lroy on Aug 3, 2017 16:21:37 GMT 1, People have no memory. Remember the JPS/Tauton affair when a certain man ( I wont tell his name, he is so close of B ) post the pis of this rat as a Banksy one. It makes confusion and JPS have been banned/blocked then from the Rob ' s FacebooK- there were great pics on it ) .
Anyway, of course Banksy is a brand now - actually more than 23 artists - with a great Pr, official and non official supervisors, and Del Naja - as other great artits that you like - have surely working for " him " ( them ) , but Del Naja is not Banksy, that is sure. You will never know anyway, as Banksy is an eternal Marvel Heroe and will never die, or only by himself without any ceremony..
ps : I really like JPS rats
