Although, I hope people realize that supply and demand will be greatly affected with these prints thus changing the whole market value. I know there are some out there who are just in it for the money but one thing this has done is hopefully sparked some interest in a painter whose skills and style were at the very beginning of the neo-dada movement which later heavily influenced and became Pop Art. I think it's cool when members don't just buy and sell but actually learn something, myself included.

I need to stop coming back to this thread...ended up buying a few more--Flag III, 0-9 and Coat Hanger II. And I kind of wish I would've grabbed Flag II now to have all three. Oh well, still think Painting with Two Balls is my favorite.

Just to be mentioned:
There were several auctions of signed jasper johns print out of a smaller edition with results from 900 to 2000 Euro. I don't know,why the result for the flag was so high.

Thanks to the OP on this - went for both Coathangers a couple of days ago as they look like they would work well together as a pair and make a nice change to what I would normally go for.

Didn't know a great deal about Jasper Johns but having looked into his history a bit since picking up Coatahangers and also the story behind the printing of these I more decided to go back and get Flag I and III yesterday.

 I watched the whole series by Robert Hughes about art years ago. I couldn't get enough of Hughes downbeat cynicism and historical narrative balancing symbolism with cold war and propaganda etc. For me I have always been a fan of Americana and artists like Johns and other artists symbolised pure Americana.

I felt that those two, together with the flags, were the most iconic JJ images, best representative of his work, and the most aesthetically pleasing to me. I didn't go for any of the flags just because I didn't think I would hang an image of a flag (with respect to my American friends on here), despite the image hardly being a flag waving exercise!

btw - is it just me, or does anyone else see a man holding his massive p***s in the middle of the DEVICE print? seems a little out of place with the rest of the work somehow... flags, targets, numbers, coat hangers... and a massive p***s!

there's a 0-9 on the bay now for $195.00. Don't think it's from one of us tho. It has providence from an Estate and the seller is from Denver. just thought I'd put that out there for anyone who missed out. Looks good but don't know if it has the Telamon mark on it. Good Luck.
