Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by Acme Thunderer on Jun 7, 2017 21:44:47 GMT 1, Unlike a lot of releases inexpect the majority of these will make the wall which is lovely to hear People say "can't wait to frame it!" after every release and then the inevitable 'wife doesn't like it/costs too much to frame/will trade for Pejac' threads will start in three months when the next nice print comes out. No shame either way, I've probably been guilty of it in the past myself so not throwing stones. Just making observation. Probably see < 5 framed ones here in three months. I'm still waiting for someone to 'sell' me their Pejac - Linea. π
Will post pics of my framing once done. Budgeting for at least Β£250 with museum glass.

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by avec art on Jun 7, 2017 22:39:04 GMT 1, I think it is sad when people don't care about the process. Screen printing is a tradition that has been around for thousands of years and is a well respected art form in its own right. When people claim something to be screen printed when actually it's not, it undermines the craft of this ancient method. I have nothing against other kinds of printing and I take an interest in them, and for this print an inkjet almost certainly was the best way to reproduce Katrin's work in the most faithful way possible.

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by thugs on Jun 7, 2017 22:45:01 GMT 1, The Os Gemeos '99 prints' editions are 'stone lithographs'. A printing method using limestone slabs and wax that has been used for hundreds of years. They're not your print out 'lithographs' seen nowadays. they didn't make those litho's with stones, they used metal plates.

Do either of those methods of printing justify the price tag for Os Gemeos prints or is their 'Name brand' mainly to blame for the price point?

Every release has a presale. Just have to know the right people or say the right thing.

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by FΠ― on Jun 8, 2017 0:00:55 GMT 1, So many posts about the print quality.
1 screen would be the silver The giclee would be the paint texture 1 screen would be the gloss over the top of the giclee Then the emboss
Not sure what all the issue is.
Also there was a 100% pre sale, but there always is on these things.

But the printer says there is... both can't be right.
The combination of screen and digital doesn't bother me at all. Along with the embossing and varnishing it is clear a lot of thought, care, skill and effort has gone into the printing of these.

Maybe Graffiti Prints could give some thoughts on whats gone into this.
The black and white one is a nice image, if you like it then why does it matter how its printed?

It does bother me a bit that the gallery is perhaps not being as "straightforward" about the printing method as they might be. The print method description on the sales page was unclear/unspecific at best, and when requests for clarification were made, what they said seemed to directly contradict what the printer themselves said when asked.

In comparison to other drops around here...not at all. Over 150 prints sold and 1 up so far... pretty solid. Usually its 10-15%+ of the run hits the bay when a sellout happens from a popular artist. Suprised there are not nearly a dozen up now.

People get far too caught up in the tech. Do you think katrin was trying to cut corners? They used every printing tech available to create the perfect representation of the originals and when they start to land and people start to say wonderful they are, the whingers eat their words

100% right . A year ago I'd never heard of pejac and I wasn't on the forum. I've been introduced to some incredible talent so thanks the forum! Regarding the hype train, less than 6 months ago most of his prints were available on eBay for Β£1000 or less. Whilst I appreciate the people who know we're on pejac early i wouldn't call that hype hype. It needed linea to become sought after to really start. let's be honest here no one wanted linea until recently, there were 6 on eBay at Β£700 or less and they were laughed at price wise. Now you can't find them! When the least popular print can't be found it's serious.. IMHO

Just enjoy

Honesty.. or just openness... These prints would not have sold any different if the exact printing proces had been made clear. Now you will just have people complaining when they receive the print and maybe even loose customers by not being "open" next time.

Felipe Pantone π¦π· Exhibition News β’ Contemporary Art , by wisky on Jun 8, 2017 11:54:00 GMT 1, ..... Well I was fortunate enough to grab a coloured print for my daughter, who loves KF's images and has even tried to replicate KF's work in her art class - The class had to choose a famous artist and replicate their work, she choose KF - she's 11 y-o - and she doesn't yet know that she will have this print......
She will be estatic!
What is all the fuss over the printing technique....?
I love Banksy's images, but I would bet that Banksy's printing process was knowhere near as complicated as KF's???
