2007 - Year for Street ART?, by Daniel Silk on Mar 20, 2007 18:45:08 GMT 1, ;D I really think 2007 is gonna turn out to be a wonderful year for Street Art ;D We have got so many shows over the next few months, with more and more Artists appearing all the time, and producing loads of new and wonderful stuff ;D I think its gonna make last year look pretty dull
Lets not all get bogged down picking and moaning about things, be positive, Buy the art that YOU really want, and be lucky! ;D

2007 - Year for Street ART?, by corblimeylimey on Mar 20, 2007 19:31:01 GMT 1, Yeah I agree, I've got high hopes for this year, the trouble is the more there is, the more I've got to be really picky. Having spent out on my Bleks I'm really only on the look out for inexpensive stuff now, there is plently of it but I've got to be selective and I'm trying not to spend more than £70 a pop.
As gm says would like to see more on the street too, although that's not likely where I live, so here's hoping to see other peoples photo's.

2007 - Year for Street ART?, by trowel on Mar 20, 2007 20:08:33 GMT 1, I love Swoon's work which is why I'm not keen on her charity print - completely loses the sense of the original piece especially with the change in medium (from cut-out to print??)
ripper1331 has posted a pic of a nice Swoon piece he has up in his house on the GYBOFTL thread (p31). I'm planning on a little night-time visit...

2007 - Year for Street ART?, by johnas on Mar 20, 2007 23:59:48 GMT 1, on the subject of swoon, i do love the whole wheatpaste thang she's got going on.... perhaps we'll see more of that over here in blighty in 2007?!?
it seems quite an American thing - anyone know of any Uk artists pasting in the same way?

2007 - Year for Street ART?, by ricosg11 on Mar 21, 2007 0:16:57 GMT 1, I think we are (in some cases) getting in on the ground floor of a huge movement lasting over the next decade if not more. Certain stars will shine and some will fade and some will come out of nowhere.

2007 - Year for Street ART?, by goffy on Mar 21, 2007 0:31:36 GMT 1, I hope to get the new Dan Baldwin print from Forster and hopefully (yeah! right) Trolley Hunters, after that I am spent up. Like you said earlier, nothing over £70 from then on. Let's see it on the street. Let's face it, Banksy's best work is out there on the walls.

2007 - Year for Street ART?, by Ripper1331 on Mar 21, 2007 1:30:13 GMT 1, Bring beer if you're stopping by. ;D

I think you will see more street art prints and more originals available but less on the street. New people will be throwing a token piece up here or there and then try to cash in on it with prints and others will just keep on going ignoring the scene.
Actual street artists are finding that they can make a living at it and that the work is in high demand if it's good - which leads to people going around and stealing it as soon as it's up and running to ebay. At a certain point the artists are going to want to profit off their work instead of some middle man who is buying up prints and selling at 5x the cost a week later.
