Bast • Visconti Print, by Con Art Studio on Mar 16, 2017 23:52:16 GMT 1, Not Mickey, think its Goofy and a bit of Stan Laurel wearing a NY Mets shirts. Might even be Trumps syrup! It's Goofy NOT mickey mouse lol. HE did mickey back in 2007 actually it's Mickey Mouse's face and not Goofy's. You think it's Goofy because of the ears that bast added that makes it look like him but it's definitely Mickey Mouse's face. Goofy has big eyes that are surrounded by black, a smaller nose and his eyebrows are part of his forehead.

Bast • Visconti Print, by gravity1 on Mar 16, 2017 23:56:24 GMT 1, Beyond comprehension how this could even be considered. So Bast is MIA on the print scene for 6 years jumps back in with this?? Disney characters and Trump. I'm embarrassed for him that he even considered releasing this image let alone that he actually did it. If this was dropped last Nov it would still have been obvious and lacking of any creative thought, now 5 months later after literally tens of thousands of every poke and parody imaginable, all he can muster is to further beat something that is literally so over done, dead and unoriginal. I appreciate Bast's history but for me that's no excuse for this. Moving on.....

Compared to some of the crap cluttering up the threads of the urban art section recently it is as revolutionary as quilted bogroll versus Izal.

Bast • Visconti Print, by nobokov on Mar 17, 2017 0:09:30 GMT 1, I don't get the interest level in this. Is it because of scarcity or some other reason? Ok. A longer answer. Bast has been heavily in the street art scene for a long time. Working with Faile, getting involved with POW and Banksy events, mixing it up with Paul Insect... And generally being regarded as an "artist's artist" for his innovation and ability to "keep it real" in the world of tagging and general vandalism... as well as his fine art and working with fashion labels like Marc Jacobs. He's also one of the few artists that keeps his identity secret, because he still does illegal stuff (although just recently seems to be relaxing on that a bit). So there's that... And scarcity of prints. Mostly small hand finished editions, made by himself and not by a hired print studio. Thanks for the in-depth explanation! I do appreciate it. I've only been around since last year so I don't know the history of a lot of the artists, as some have so keenly pointed out. Good to know. Mine was just a reaction purely based on aesthetics - I do know that know that understanding the history of any artist brings on meaning to a piece. Its not the most pleasing to the eye, but then again i havent even evolved to the point of liking paul insect, so thats that. Happy that fans were able to score on this one.

Owning a stick figure and paying the amount they go for is beyond comprehension imo. To each there own. So because he was gone for 6 years print wise, you expected him to produce a 50 pound piece of gold in print form? Like he was out looking for the lost treasures the past 6 years?
To be fair and honest, this is consistent with his work. Much better then plenty older prints he has released. In my opinion this is much better then Pinnochio Iguana, Lotty Dotty, The Nose, Carnegie, etc. Some of his works are a miss for me and some I like better then others. You were expecting what exactly?
His new style all alone by itself is unrecognizable to his old imo. I like the mixture of new + old. I am sure others have different opinions when it comes to his "style" and what they like or dislike. Congrats to all who got one.

Its not the most pleasing to the eye, but then again i havent even evolved to the point of liking paul insect, so thats that.
I think with Bast prints it's also important to see them for real, and not just on a screen. They're generally not just a printed reproduction of a painting, they're art in their own right. Even a print like The Nose, the paper is painted white and the red ink is super thick and stands out from the paper. Same with Faile too, and it's obvious they work together (or used to more).

Other artist's works really have no relevance here and to defend the piece saying it's better than most of his last releases isn't really helping your case much. As always art is as subjective as it can get but I just don't see any skill, creativity, originality or desirability in using Disney characters and trump references in this way.

It is far more likely, (from the print's name) that the 'devils peak' hair is from legendary Italian film director Luchino Visconti, mouth Stan Laurel and face made up to look like Goofy. The usual mash up style with lots of typical NYC, classic film and Disney references - are you ever supposed to get it, is everyone supposed to like it? … NO!

Bast • Visconti Print, by faute on Mar 17, 2017 10:09:48 GMT 1, I don't get the interest level in this. Is it because of scarcity or some other reason? I choosed not to buy this one, but I like it and I think it's a great buy.
One reason I could give apart from the history that has already been given and that BAST prints are often, while not unique, an original on paper:
Banksy, december 2004, regarding BAST: "His art is fast and loose and cheap, which is strangely why it endures, it's punchy and it has value"
My favorite BAST pieces are actually often still the ones that look the most cheap and fast. It's like I listen good music and it gives my energy. I like very much the new direction and his last works (I have not seen the new canvas in person), it's great that he always evolves (amazing how his work is recognizable, while different), but I still love the most punchy ones...I think this print has some punch. A great BAST is music to me.

Bast • Visconti Print, by Lord Lucas Roham on Mar 17, 2017 12:36:22 GMT 1, Managed to cop one of the hand-finished Mickey Prints from POW in 2007, still got pride of place on my living room wall. Bast is a legend in the Street Art scene and one of the few who still keeps it real. Congrats to thoise that copped, was an easy pass from me due to the exchange rate and shipping costs.

Bast • Visconti Print, by nesserma1115 on Mar 17, 2017 14:37:41 GMT 1, Love Bast. As mentioned above there is no Trump reference, or even allusion to him. It seems many jumped to that conclusion rather quickly which would imply they did not truly look at the work before forming an opinion.

It seems many jumped to that conclusion rather quickly which would imply they did not truly look at the work before forming an opinion. Agreed; I had posted that I had "grabbed" one yesterday. Someone responded that "making fun of the president was the new thing (or something to that extent)." I kept staring at the print trying to figure out where the Trump reference was before realizing there was none. I came to the conclusion that someone was insinuating that I was making fun of the President by using the term "grabbed"? Silly.
I don't think Bast would stoop that low......................................

Bast • Visconti Print, by Forbidden Love on Mar 17, 2017 14:56:32 GMT 1, I really like the composition and aesthetics of this print.
Big fan of basts work but would love to hear his thinking from his own words behind some of his pieces (not just this one).

Bast • Visconti Print, by gravity1 on Mar 17, 2017 18:22:18 GMT 1, Not for me this time and really don't see much of a reference to Trump in this, apart from Goofy, slapstick. … NO!
Maybe it's just me but I see the hair style resembling Trump much more than any hair style that Visconti ever had, young or older. In fact Visconti really didn't seem to have an iconic hair style at all, not to mention his hair was black with a widows peak hair line even when he was younger, so without the "Visconti" print name I don't think anyone would have even tried to make this connection.

Think it was only you who made the trump reference. You don't think anyone would of tried to make the connection? The print's name is Visconti. I didn't see one trump sign at all. The name of the print was a dead giveaway If you just looked it up on google. You jumped to an conclusion over emotion which is common. Btw others think mickey is in the print but I only see goofy so its easy to be wrong in certain instances.
