Maybe 11 is doing it for the love of it?? Radical thought, hard to fathom maybe for some who's passion only reaches as far as their next flip. This isn't directed at you Ploppi.
I'm amazed at the grief someone who is giving something away for free, is getting from a community that is supposed to share the same passion. Great work J please don't let the opinions of a few take the shine off this giveaway or the site.

wherethereswalls.com giveaway, by Deleted on Mar 15, 2017 23:07:10 GMT 1, How will the site be monetised? Would you care to speculate a little
I read some of the info on the site and it does not go very deep into whether the site will be sort of an online blog news site, and also an online gallery?
www.wherethereswalls.com/be-a-contributor/
Whether artists will sell through the WTW site and whether contributers who contribute articles and photos will get a link back to their own site or some form of exchange etc. I know some people will be happy to contribute photos they take and articles interviews etc they do with artists in their area for free, while others who contribute would also be people that earn a living from it.
I can see the site expanding over time and getting a lot of visitors.
I wasn't being cynical just a normal question considering making a site like this is not cheap.

I can see the site expanding over time and getting a lot of visitors. I wasn't being cynical just a normal question considering making a site like this is not cheap. For those involved it is an extension of what we enjoy doing. It hasn't been set-up with any commercial aims at all. Yes, it has cost money to set up and maintain but its relatively cheap to get a good hosting solution these days, the cost of email addresses seems to be a killer though. At the end of the day it was a lot cheaper than many of the prices that mediocre prints are sold for.
If opportunities arise to recover the costs already outlaid then great. If it allows us to ensure everyone involved has an official email address then even better. Above that I cant see what we need money for and anything we do generate is an opportunity for us to look at sponsoring an event or staging something to further benefit the scene we are looking to support.
We haven't considered any sort of advertising, and right now I don't see what advertising would sit with the brand that we would like to develop.
We are offering a FREE platform to emerging artists, an opportunity to have a few pages to show off their work. If they want to sell through the site there will be a nominal fee that will cover our costs, other than that the money will go to the artist.
Right now it is a blog and street art archive, over time we will (work out how to) build in the extra pages providing artist directories, a portal to everything related to the scene. We aren't looking to compete, we are looking to collaborate and be inclusive.....we'll see how it goes

"wherethereare" is not as catchy as "wheretheres"
peaceonwalls.com is available
It's nice to know there are people out there who appreciate walls. Some walls are great like Hadriens wall etc.
"Eija-Riitta Berliner-Mauer, 54, whose surname means Berlin Wall in German, wed the concrete structure in 1979" "Mrs Berliner-Mauer, whose fetish is said to have its roots in childhood, claimed she fell in love with the structure when she first saw it on television when she was seven."
"She began collecting "his" pictures and saving up for visits. On her sixth trip in 1979 they tied the knot before a handful of guests."
"she insists she has a full, loving relationship with the wall."
"Mrs Berliner-Mauer, who lives in Liden, northern Sweden, said: "I find long, slim things with horizontal lines very sexy.
"The Great Wall of China's attractive, but heโs too thick โ my husband is sexier."
While the rest of mankind rejoiced when the Wall, erected by the Soviets in 1961 to halt an exodus from East to West Berlin, was largely torn down in 1989, its "wife" was horrified.
She's never been back and now keeps models depicting "his" former glory.
She said: โWhat they did was awful. They mutilated my husband."
She is said to have shifted her affections to a nearby garden fence."

wherethereswalls.com giveaway, by 11 on Mar 16, 2017 11:57:01 GMT 1, Thanks for getting on board Bakshi, And we definitely welcome all feedback on suggestions to make the site more attractive.
Some good points there;
I did think RSS was available - i will have a look as i do remember seeing stats for RSS subscribers but maybe I've inadvertently switched it off.
The calendar - or at least the events listed in the 'Whats on' section does have Google Calendar integration along with map integration for locations too. Maybe the actual calendar is something I can look at.
IFTTT looks very useful i'll do some research as content management & channel co-ordination is a pain in the arse. We can push to FB at the moment but don't think i have integration tools for anything else
We probably wont go down the asking for donations or membership route at this stage, i wouldnt ever rule it out but think asking for dough to run the site is probably taking the piss, membership fees on the other hand - but no, we'd be halfway to BNE stardom like that
We do have a fully functioning store capability with a reasonably priced card payment service so we can offer a pretty robust service, the artist just has to take care of fulfilment and even that is something I'm looking at how we could help.
really appreciate the engagement though bakshi, thank you

wherethereswalls.com giveaway, by 11 on Mar 16, 2017 12:52:24 GMT 1, If people are interested in Joining us then we are definitely interested in hearing from you. We would like to create a collective group that is able to cover the globe.....
we are looking for photographers from all over the world to capture and provide street art and art show photography from your local areas.
We would like writers that are able to offer some quality reviews and are prepared to put their opinions and views out there for the internet billions to see - its actually a scary proposition and even though I've had no shame with what I've let rip with here it seemed a totally different proposition putting something out publicly....even though here is just as / more public than most places.
We'd like those characters that can offer an alternative or funny outlook on life, art and anything else. If you get a taste for the publishing then you can have your own blog space or whatever else you think would work.
Even if you don't do pics or reviews we still need people to help keep our calendar and news / release pages up to date which is typically copying and pasting press releases and other mail to the site so you don't have to put yourself out there but still be a very important member of the team.
Theres no wages, not even travel expenses, but you will be fully credited for all of your work, if you have your own website and stuff we will provide links and x-references and as a WTW contributor you will get a badge.....(I must remember to nick a handful next time i walk into Jealous Studio )
The perks couldn't be better : as a member of the WhereTheresWalls team we will do our best to get you into the press releases and previews for shows and, over time, I'm sure outfit's will be asking us to cover their events rather than us begging to be let in.
Damn, that list of perks was much bigger in my head
If you aren't IT savvy then we can work out a way of you providing your content by email and others actually loading it to the site
It is time consuming, it can be a pain in the arse but, as things develop I'm sure they will be easier. It will need a degree of commitment (maybe a minimum of about an hour a week - more if you can ) but the point being if you want to be part of it you will have to muck-in and cant just
We are new, it is the beginning and together we can build something special.
Theres no workplace pension either before someone asks....xmas bonus is a packet of Prawn Cocktail crisps......but we do have a work from home policy
If you fancy it then PM me or get in touch via the wherethereswalls site - please remember to tell us what area you could cover and if you have any other experience.

wherethereswalls.com giveaway, by vulva on Mar 16, 2017 13:34:49 GMT 1, Yeap I know of an character perky she is too. She's been around and about, since the very first beginning,I'm not sure she is tech savy or really into working at all. But she's an absolute star. I'll ask if she would like to contribute with something from the Nordic sphere.
