Lazarides Unkle James Lavelle, by Happy Shopper on Jan 19, 2017 21:15:21 GMT 1, As disorganised as ever. Crazy to try to sell prints. I think they just resorted to taking names. But no info anywhere for what prints were available, what they are called, edition sizes, signed or unsigned (or signed by who!?)
I found out the pointman prints are in editions of 20 in glitter, in several colours each. Not sure about non glitter. Camo prints looked like they were knocked up in adobe illustrator. No texture.

Lazarides Unkle James Lavelle, by Dibbs 45 on Jan 19, 2017 21:50:43 GMT 1, No signed prints as far as I know. I've just left and there's still a queue to get in. James was present happy chatting to people.

Lazarides Unkle James Lavelle, by yobaby on Jan 19, 2017 22:23:40 GMT 1, Too full to see any work in its entirety so will need to head back next week. I got there at 6.20 and the queue was fully formed by then. Stepped through the doors at 7.00pm and incredibly still managed to order two glitter prints! Apparently this edition is "signed" but it remains to be seen by who and whether they oversubscribed. The ordering / payment desk didn't fill me with great confidence even the two ladies were doing their best. Exhibition wise: too cramped to see much but there were some great looking canvases which need further inspection I chuckled at the average age of the punters, hardly a millennial in sight!

Lazarides Unkle James Lavelle, by Schrödinger's Chat on Jan 19, 2017 23:24:52 GMT 1, I thought it was all a bit "meh" to be honest.
A couple of great canvases, 10 minutes of videos of which 2 minutes was the promotion of his upcoming film, 2 vr headsets amongst 100s of people and a few bits of Unkle memorabilia.
Disappointed.

Lazarides Unkle James Lavelle, by volta on Jan 20, 2017 0:19:54 GMT 1, Futura distanced himself from James along time ago So don't expect any Futura signatures on the prints I thought the same thing, something "unpleasant" was going on between the two, some years ago. And I have the impression that the atom motives of the flyer and stuff would not have been approved by futura, they look like bad rip-offs in my opinion. Could be wrong though, you never know.

Are you certain? I ask because the Alphabet prints appear to be signed by Futura. Seems odd that he'd sign one set and not another?

Tend to agree. Of the canvases, some beauties, many were dug out of the crate from years ago.
Felt like cashing in on past glories with some ok AV elements.

I may be mistaken but pretty sure any of the new editions were only signed by Lavelle, if at all....I'm going back anyway to have a 'proper' look generally...can never see much on opening nights!

Lazarides Unkle James Lavelle, by Happy Shopper on Jan 20, 2017 11:01:16 GMT 1, What did the Alphabet prints look like? Were they on display? I saw the Camo prints (6 colours), and 3 different Pointman prints, and a 3D Del Naja print I think (As I was told "those ARE signed", so I assumed it was a new edition)
I did a google search when I got home and found the Black Glitter Pointman print looks very similar to a print made a few years ago for another James Lavelle show (only no glitter):
Also, are the Camo prints just a new run of an old edition?? (by James Lavelle and Ben Drury... not Futura) saatchistore.saatchigallery.com/mo-wax-build-destroy/1188-camo-print-by-mwa.html

I imagine he used Futura's artwork on record sleeves, posters, etc in an "Art Director" capacity, in the same way as he uses other artists' work too. Rather than he drew the Point Man art himself in Futura's style???

The 'shop' price list has the Alphabet listed as unsigned. The one on the wall is signed and dedicated to James.

These are the details given out at the show on the prints:
This doesn't include the 6 futura ones up behind the counter, which I gathered were £225 each, not signed and no idea on edition size. But to be honest I lost interest in queuing to confirm these details.
