THE MET LOTTERY, by met on Aug 28, 2020 17:53:42 GMT 1, I would say that Poptone and Chemical Brothers songs are connected thematically and one could read them as complementing each other. They are both about breaking boundaries, comforting your fears and standing up for yourself. (I m not eligible to participate in this lottery -I am new here-- so please Mr Met evaluate this answer after other members have given theirs) Cheers for this. It's an excellent effort, covering an aspect I had not even considered.
You are but one post away from competition eligibility. Hope to see you taking part again in the future.

THE MET LOTTERY, by met on Aug 28, 2020 20:22:14 GMT 1, The t-shirt is a picture of Soo Catwoman
Congratulations for the second time, Schrödinger's Chat.
I had actually logged back in to offer a clue, after thinking the bonus question was potentially unfair.
This was one of those cases where, for anyone who recognised the iconic imagery, the question was easy. But if they didn't happen to have the relevant cultural reference points, there was no reasonable way for them to work out the correct answer.
You clearly fell within the former category and didn't need the clue, which was going to be as follows:
The person featured on the white t-shirt was part of a scene that immediately preceded the one from where Poptone got its name.

Punk "scene" ok, but what scene do you mean Poptone got its name from?
Edit This isn't a quiz answer so I've corrected a few spelling mistakes.

A very fair question. It is probably the case that my reference to the "scene" (from where Poptone got its name) could have been better phrased given its ambiguity.
The intention was to make some kind of distinction between:
(i) the Sex Pistols era; and
(ii) the period following the break-up of the band and overdose of cartoon-junkie-punk, Sid Vicious.
That latter period was one of greater maturity and experimentation (perhaps also jadedness), during which multiple disparate and less-united music and cultural scenes arose. It was the dawn of new wave, no wave, post-punk, cold wave / dark wave / goth, and hardcore.

THE MET LOTTERY, by met on Sept 2, 2020 20:00:00 GMT 1, A. B. C. D. E.Margin Call (2011) - Senior Partners Emergency Meeting [HD 1080p] [9:48]- uploaded by ExtractorSam Rogers: And you're selling something that you know has no value.
John Tuld: We are selling to willing buyers at the current fair market price...________________ At around 20:00 UK time on Wednesday 2 September, I'll quote this post and add one or more questions or instructions. The first eligible member * to answer correctly, wins.
Slight curveball focusing on Part A:
The source image for the Morons print editions and large canvas by Banksy is a well-known photograph depicting a key moment in auction history. That image was also used at one point during the early 2000s in a magazine advertising campaign for a car (where Banksy apparently first came across it).
1. Post a copy of the source photo.
2. Briefly describe the event depicted in the image, including the relevant venue, date, and the significance of the event.
3. More difficult bit: To encourage some members to broaden their art horizons, identify the title and artist of at least one of the paintings hanging on the wall behind the auctioneer. [There are four paintings to choose from in the source photo.]
________________
In case nobody correctly responds to all questions beforehand, the answers will be posted in four days — at around 20:00 UK time on Sunday 6 September.

Good effort, but correct responses are required to all questions.
I wish you best with future competitions, including the one this evening at 21:00 UK time.

At the risk of coming across as overly harsh, I'm afraid each member only gets one shot per competition to answer correctly, pursuant to Clause 2.1* of the rules.
[Kudos, however, for the correct answer.]
This competition remains open, with the Mané-Katz painting excluded from the possible answers. Other participants now have a choice of the three remaining paintings for their own answers.

Time for a Venn diagram. Circle A is song-related in its thematic coverage, while Circle B is video-related.
1. Draft clear, suitably-descriptive titles for both A and B.
2. For each of the above five songs/videos, state whether it fits into:
(i) A; (ii) B; or (iii) the intersection of A and B.

In the unlikely event that nobody responds correctly beforehand, the answers will be posted in 24 hours — at around 21:00 UK time on Thursday 3 September.

Mane Katz Le Fete, Modern Expressionist Oil on Canvas 1957 €342,763.66 At the risk of coming across as overly harsh, I'm afraid each member only gets one shot per competition to answer correctly, pursuant to Clause 2.1 * of the rules. [Kudos, however, for the correct answer.]This competition remains open, with the Mané-Katz painting excluded from the possible answers. Other participants now have a choice of the three remaining paintings for their own answers. I'll take kudos from met over cookies any day of the week. THE MET LOTTERY, by viz on Sept 2, 2020 22:38:40 GMT 1, The one of Christie's auction is very challenging but too tough, spent quite some time on it but... unless one is pretty familiar with the works of those artists or does have the original auction catalogue, it looks nearly impossible to find the answer on the internet...
Here an interesting video of the sunflowers auctioning, where those painting can be seen in better detail along with some other ones not present on the famous photograph:

You win again, viz. Congratulations. More cookies heading your way.
REFERENCE ANSWERS

And how good is that Fiona Apple video? The combination of imagery and lyrics (especially the mantra, "Jai guru deva om") is arguably Banksy-level in juxtaposition.

THE MET LOTTERY, by afreefilms on Sept 2, 2020 23:25:52 GMT 1, 1. Figured everyone was gonna get this reference image from the forum haha 2.The picture of ‘Morons’ is depicting the historical moment when Van Gogh’s Sunflowers sold for a hammer price of 22,500,000 euros at Christies on March 30 1987. This set the new record for price of any work of art at an auction. 3. One of the artworks behind the auctioneer is Le Fete, Modern Expressionist Oil on Canvas by Mane Katz (1957) - 2nd to the left afreefilms - See my reply to Dive Jedi ⭐ above. Since there was an unfortunately confusing cross-posting while I was drafting, I'll give you another attempt to identify one of the remaining three paintings and its artist. So people know I wasn't just copying off Dive Jedi, here's another response for #3. I'm just as confident in that answer as my 1st response
3. The painting directly behind the auctioneer is called La Folfe de St. Tropez (1948) by Charles Camoin

Impressive work, afreefilms (and close enough with the artwork's title). Congratulations on winning.
REFERENCE ANSWERS

3. Wall paintings from left to right:

Artist: Albert Lebourg* Title: Steamers et Chalands dans le Port de Rouen; Effet de Soleil couchant (1907) Medium: Oil on canvas

Artist: Emmanuel Mané-Katz* Title: La Fête (1957) Medium: Oil on canvas

Artist: Leopold Survage* Title: La Cité (circa 1920) Medium: Oil on canvas

THE MET LOTTERY, by Dive Jedi ⭐ on Sept 3, 2020 12:13:44 GMT 1, Thank you, viz . Much appreciated.
I was actually planning to forward my prize to cosmic for providing the answer right here on the forum. But that would look rather rude, so I gladly accepted met 's kind offer.
So instead I offer cosmic to send him/her our famous Dutch stroopwafels as a thank you. Not to compete with Met's legendary cookies, but they are rather good as well.
PS : This is why we have nice things.....

QUESTIONS
1. Part A: Annie Jacobsen mentions that euphemisms have long been used by the CIA for its assassination programmes.
What was the name of the relevant tertia optio committee under President Eisenhower?
2. Part B: When describing his wariness of Huawei and, more generally, how big Chinese national companies are working to a very different model than large American companies, Jamie Metzl refers to a Chinese government rule.
What is that rule?
EDIT
3. Part E: Post three additional videos to illustrate the connection between the songs or videos in Part E.
3. Part E: The songs or videos in Part E have something in common. Post the missing three videos that serve to better illustrate this connection.

This competition will remain open to all eligible members* until a winner emerges.
