Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by manchestermike on Dec 19, 2006 17:57:18 GMT 1, As the ghetto nears its close what did you pick up (apart from the very obvious) this year that you didn't expect. What, in your opinions, were the best works there and what were the worst? And what did you pass up on that you wish you didn't?
For me:
Finds of the Ghetto: The Hick (signed) and Albino Invader (not just the signed edition, but a one off signed to Zeus) - Both thanks to my wonderful girlfriend ;D Also the Harmony Korine "Untitled" is class as is the Insect "Bunny Girl" print
Best Works Loved the Dead Rebels series also the Eine hand painted "Monster" prints look fantastic
Most Disappointing The Hewlett stained glass windows, I was going to buy these off PoW and am so glad I didn't, wasn't impressed.
Passed up on The blair print, wasn't sure about it at first but it's a definate grower, should have got one...
What about you?

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by stylus on Dec 19, 2006 18:08:53 GMT 1, Best: Titifreak prints (esp. Wires), Tom Osmond (Drunk Dwarf), Eine - Blue Train
Most Disappointing: Zeus (I still don't get the point), missing out on Micallef! (I know that's not the way you intended the question!)
Passed up on: Faile: I really like the prints (like Mao etc.). I just couldn't convince myself to buy.

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by saffa on Dec 19, 2006 18:12:41 GMT 1, I really liked the 'vendor limb' machine. Coming from SA and having visited Mozambique on a few occations, you really see kids like that little fellow that have been victims of the landmines. It was a hard hitting display with a meaningful message.
Also really enjoyed the plastic/clingfilm animals, etc on those photos on the column.
It was my 1st Ghetto and I've only really been exposed to this kind of art for a short time but I loved most of it. I look forward to many more!
Picked up 2 Eelus prints but they were from the website - Shat-at and Chewbarber.
Merry Christmas All!

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by deacdeac on Dec 19, 2006 18:40:21 GMT 1, Really glad I went to the ghetto this year I got two Eine's Pink Train and Blue Train and luckily managed to get a copy of Flags (my first Banksy) I might go again tommorow and try to punish my cc a bit more Worst bits were not getting a Friendly Fire, Hindu Offensive or any of the Rebels I found that they had changed some of the displays, there were things up on the second visit that were not there on the first, another reason to go again.

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by knox on Dec 19, 2006 19:17:06 GMT 1, Best: Titifreak. Really liked 'Wires' but they had all sold out when I discovered them. Luckily I managed to get 'Dog' direct from Tristan Manco who was so helpful. It looks amazing in real life.
Gutted to miss out on: Friendly Fire, Insect Dead Rebels...though i hear they are expeting a few more of these in (unsigned).
Also picked up: Eelus Chewbarber (Blue) and Shat-at (olive), Lucy Mclauchlan Warrior Bird, Banksy Flag.
Alerted to the work of: Stanley Donwood. I know he's been around a while but I managed to get a 'Minotaur' from POW and 'Pacific Coast' direct from his website.
Going back tomorrow for: Micallef and Insect Rebels (in hope).
If you are wondering how I paid/plan to pay for all these. I'm sorry if it goes against the morals of the forum but I sold my Grin Reaper because I didn't like the look of it on the wall. Probably a decision i'll live to regret but thus far i've got 7 prints I prefer, the change for a couple more out of it and a holiday paid off.

Not at all Knox, good move for you by the sound of it, it's one of the great things about art, tastes can change, and don't regret it...
And I agree with the above, the Eine trains are fantastic, it's amazing how different things can look in the flesh.

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by alvington89 on Dec 19, 2006 21:38:01 GMT 1, Travelled down to the Ghetto on the first Saturday it was open and arrived at about 4.30 pm. The one print that stood out for me was TFreak's 'Face'. Asked about it and inevitably they had sold out of all the TFreak's prints apart from the 'girl' image. I ended up buying 2 Eelus 'Shat-At's' (1 for my mate) a signed Invader 'Alex' and an Insect 'Elvis' unsigned (All the signed had gone apparently). I did a bit of research via the web when I got back and managed to order TFreak's 'Face' print from Tristan (Thanks Tristan). Since then I've been back 2 or 3 times and was lucky enough to get a 'FF' and also bought both of Eine's 'Trains', Insect's 'Sid' and Aiko's 'Grenade Girl'. The only one I've framed so far from the SG is Micallef's 'FF' (Frame cost more than the print but was worth it in order to do the print justice!). Not so much 'Picturesonwalls' as 'Picturesintubes - atleast until after Christmas whilst I consider what frames/borders etc. for the other prints. Art from SG I don't personally rate includes Zeus, Modern Toss and I like drawing. No sign of any new DFace or Hewlett prints yet?

I've got about 10 pieces that need framing but thought it would be better to buy the things I want and get them framed later. Much better than only getting half of what I want framed. But if any burgalars come round my flat I urge them not to look under the bed. It seems about an ideal time to go get ready for a JD.

It wasn't in the racks when I went in but I asked and they had. Mine was 26 (i think) of 40. So if they are serving them in order there ought to be a few left

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by MrStatic on Dec 21, 2006 10:11:06 GMT 1, Apologies of this has been posted anywhere else, but I was quite taken by the wallpaper/arm badges and painting hidden round the corner past the toilet. Anyone know who did it? The sew-on patches were available at the till.

I wish I'd taken some. I'll try and get down there this evening to take some. It's a shame they hid the painting round there - you can't stand back far enough to see all of it.

Your finds of the Ghetto this year..., by willamsa on Dec 30, 2006 2:18:10 GMT 1, Best new find titfreak was find of SG this year, stood out a mile and lucky enough to get the set of 4 on first Saturday
happy that managed to add JD and FF to my micallef collection, as well as the best print Banksy has put out for over a year with Flags (doesn't matter its not signed, its a classic, and with 1000 available at £100, available to all who really wanted one - admittedly they had to be able to get to London!)
passed on dead rock stars, like the idea, wouldn't want them hanging in my house (too dark)
regret not getting blair print, wasn't bothered to start but every visit it grew on me, went in to pick one up on lat day - all gone (still happy with my haul from SG this year)
