The ebay seller didnt respond to 4 messages that i sent, so i assume that put a lot of bidders off if the same poor response rate. There was no description of state so couldnt bid not knowing if any damage.
After the auction he responded saying "print is mint, has sold now"...i replied saying if he had bothered telling me in time i would have bid £2.3k. He imediately offered me another mint one he had at £2.3k. All very dodgy!!

Like Nickh87 said, that auction has no description of the condition and he would only ship within the UK. It's really inappropriate to post comments like that in someone's sale thread to try and lower their price. I can only hope that the next time you sell something someone does the same to you.

I was just confirming that there was one, and the price was in fact higher than previously stated. As far as shipping only in the UK, seems like a pretty good fit for a thread where the seller will not accept paypal and wants a face to face deal. In the UK.

My comment was not directed towards you doctor but to Mattmoo08. By posting the link anyone can look and see that there was no description of condition and that it was UK only and realize that the seller's asking price is reasonable.

I can be vouched by 2 fellow forum members who I have had previous dealings with and this piece was purchased from a fellow forum member.

As posterbob states I do not appreciate such comments on a thread where I am trying to sell a genuine piece. If you have any questions I would prefer a DM. To be honest I dont like Paypal and the excess charges etc add on. Why cant things be like before technology and what is the harm in a face to face cash deal???

I was the original buyer - seller had a problem with his paypal account so the deal fell through, unfortunately, and I'm not in a position to pick it up in person. Seller did send me back my money immediately so all is well between us.

I need to set up a new paypal account. The issue was my dads name was on it so all the card info didnt match up. They wont let you change the name even when I provided them all the information.

I am also wary of paypal as there is a history of people being stung saying item not received etc etc and the payers money is protected, not the seller even if hes sent it.

That was a great print! Book a easyjet flight this weekend to London and go and see some great artists paint and go and get a pint with @mikeydread ,Agent Provocateur and robertjones .... Now that i think of it, i might go with you....... I know a great hotel in Shoreditch and AP and Mikey are always nearby

As a buyer, I absolutely prefer paypal, and I just throw in the added fees when purchasing from a private seller. Bank transfers screw me on currency conversions and my credit card provides that for me for free (which I can use via Paypal), and as the conversion fee is more than the Paypal fee, it actually saves me money, on top of the added protection that Paypal gives a buyer. Obviously I prefer a face to face meeting to avoid shipping issues/gives the buyer a chance for inspection of the piece/meet a fellow collector. I guess there is a risk for dodgy people using Paypal, but there is a chance of dodgy people at a meet up as well. I think you have to have a certain amount of faith in who you're dealing with.

And I didn't mean to step in front of Ivanhoe with my previous post, obviously if you decide to ship, get Paypal sorted and what not, you should clearly go back to him.

Tracking number and sig confirmation is all you need for PayPal to side with the seller. Had a couple ebay sales go that way but always had the tracking, delivery confirmation.

That is completely wrong in the sense that the buyer can still cause shenanigans by asking for a refund. You will ALWAYS lose if they want a refund.

Paypal screws you on currency conversion as well..I was charged €3405 for £2600, while current exchange rate is €3274 for £2600. So they charge €131 more which Is about 5,5%.
