#LondonIsOpen: Art for Everyone, by thugs on Nov 12, 2016 21:11:03 GMT 1, Art on the Underground in collaboration with the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has commissioned five artists to create limited edition artworks. Sol Calero, Alexandre da Cunha, Jeremy Deller, David Shrigley and Mark Titchner have created posters that will be handed out for free to Tube passengers at Tottenham Court Road, Vauxhall, Kingโs Cross, Shepherds Bush and Stratford stations on Thursday 10 November 2016 from 7.30am. Each station will have its own exclusive artwork, based on the themes of openness and diversity championed by the London is Open campaign. Each print is in a limited run of 5,000 and sends a message across London of internationalism, diversity and commonality. The programme builds on a major new series of artworks on the Tube network launched by the Mayor in July 2016 as part of #LondonIsOpen, following the results of the EU referendum. Artworks from Tania Bruguera, Hew Locke and Indra Khanna, David Shrigley, Mark Titchner, Gillian Wearing and Bedwyr Williams were displayed across the Tube network on large scale poster sites and digital screens. Alongside prints, badges and limited edition postcard sets will be distributed, bringing all ten artistsโ work together. The postcards encourage the public to write to friends and spread the message that London is open to all. 50 one-off Jeremy Deller tote bags will also be available from 7.30am to the first customers at each station. Please note: Due to the tragic tram incident in Croydon on Wednesday the 9th of November 2016, this event was postponed. We will confirm a new date as soon as we can, thank you for your patience and understanding.
