Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by motor on Jan 5, 2017 18:22:54 GMT 1, You guys are f**kingmental if you think that a few people on a silly message board are going to affect the popularity of an artist because of ONE shipping fiasco. Get over yourselves. Time will tell. Arsham seemed to be on a roll in the aughts, maybe not so much these days. Yep time will tell. However with some museum shows already lined up I feel this will be another big year for him. First solo show announced in HIGH Atlanta Museum of Art link
I say these are much trickier to made and ship all across the world. But at least he is trying (some artists like KAWS never bothered with Europe). Up until this release it was pretty smooth. This one should have been handled better (mind you perfect for the US folks). I didn't go for it as those charges totally put me off. I hope for those in the UK who bought with the super high postage that his team will eventually make it right. Anyway...

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by delano on Jan 5, 2017 20:57:46 GMT 1, Credit where credit is due.
I got in touch directly with the studio today & my refund was sorted within a couple of hours.
This was always more about the principle than the money.
But all's well that ends well.
Roll on Relic 7...

Pretty sure his lack of originality will hurt him before the shipping does. When we can predict what you are going to make next its not good art imo

Get over yourselves. Time will tell. Arsham seemed to be on a roll in the aughts, maybe not so much these days. I don't know how you came up with that, but okay(completely wrong but I'm not arguing about that). I'm simply stating that all of the art message boards combined still make up a small percentage of collectors and its arrogant to think a few people who are pissed off about a shipping issue think they can affect an artists stock. I doubt most people buying 10k+ pieces of work give a flying fuck what he does with his editions.
And furthermore people just want to bitch about anything and everything. If it's not the shipping charges, it's the crappy rolling, shitty website, bots, long wait time, etc. etc. Its really getting sucky to have to listen to, so I'm complaining about people complaining. Ha.

When we can predict what you are going to make next its not good art imo for the record, nobody "predicted" what was going to be the next release until a photo surfaced with some polaroid cameras in the background and then arsham following that up with a photo of the packing materials. it didn't take rocket science to figure it out after they appeared in a photo.
Actually once the dimensions were released many guessed it was a polaroid camera...but thats besides the point these releases are pretty predictable. I have a feeling if he keeps cranking this crap out we will see a walkman soon and maybe an old mac

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by Prescription Art on Jan 17, 2017 18:50:38 GMT 1, Has anyone else not received their polaroid?
I got a reply early on saying they would refund me some of the shipping cost... since then no refund, no replies, no shipping, nothing....

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by ferg on Jan 17, 2017 21:53:36 GMT 1, After collecting the first 5, i will not be completing the series and i believe a lot of people feel this way, It is a shame that an artist will turn his back on his collectors by gouging them like this then ignoring the feed back, I hope it doesn't dampen his career but i wont be buying anymore. Done the same time to offload

They provided me with a Fed Ex tracking number. That tracking number never went live, they never responded to any messages over the period of a month and then I had to file a claim. When I filed a claim they provided me with a new Fed Ex tracking number that also never went live and eventually Ebay refunded me. WTF is wrong with them?

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by kendo on Feb 7, 2017 12:31:42 GMT 1, I think I might have found the answer but wanted to double-check - does anyone know if it's possible to claim back the VAT from 20% to 5% for this item?
I'm guessing 'no' going by this link:
www.gov.uk/trade-tariff/headings/9703#notes
and specifically this:
3. Heading 9703 does not apply to mass-produced reproductions or works of conventional craftsmanship of a commercial character, even if these articles are designed or created by artists.
Am I right?

I'd say they are original sculptures, made in an edition. Not reproductions or works of a "Commercial Character" (I think that means chairs, furniture, etc made by an artist but not "Art") It would certainly be worth claiming they come under that Tax Code and see what happens!!

I just received a refund of £66 from HMRC, so it's definitely worth doing!
