Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by Deleted on Dec 12, 2016 17:54:59 GMT 1, Just had a message from Daniel saying 'I dont control the shipping charges, however I agree they were not right. I have asked eBay to look into it' perhaps they may be reduced ?! that comment leads me to think that the international shipping option was set to use ebay's international shipping which is hella expensive. items are shipped to eBay who then ships them internationally. if he just shipped internationally through UPS, or fedex, on his own then the shipping would not have been that much. the problem is that, for those who don't sell on eBay often, eBay doesn't make it easy to sell internationally without using their shipping option. every time i've listed something i have had to manually turn off that option despite having it set to not use it in my settings. he probably had, or has, no idea... if he did then he wouldn't have made it seem that eBay is controlling the shipping costs. This is his 6th relic and he deliberately picked Ebay to sell them on. If he still doesnt know how Ebay works and just hides behind 'hey man I didn't know' he's a whole lot dumber (or more of an asshole) than I made him out to be.

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by ferg on Dec 12, 2016 19:38:47 GMT 1, Future relic 05 had separated bills, one for the relic & shipping and the othe one for the customs charges. So far nothing similar with this one, so i fear the custom charges might not be included this time... and that's not a good news... tres expensive !

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by HRE on Dec 12, 2016 21:04:35 GMT 1, I contacted them and asked why the international shipping was so high. The have contacted eBay and are working it out. They will be in touch soon with to present a new option to lower the shipping cost, apparently.

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by barryh on Dec 13, 2016 10:08:54 GMT 1, Gutted that, I couldn't afford to purchase due to the shipping costs.. but glad those that could are hopefully getting some kind of reimbursement.

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by Aza on Dec 13, 2016 10:28:10 GMT 1, Why do these artists and print houses use things such as big cartel and eBay? Surely they should spend some of their profits buying a proper custom web shop that is designed and can cope with their needs. Doesn't make sense to me.

Handeling traffic... or the site will just crash...

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by Aza on Dec 13, 2016 14:15:25 GMT 1, I used to run websites with traffic of over 1 million hits per day, this was quite some years ago and my hosting bill was not bad. Nowadays hosting costs are surely much much cheaper. They just try to do this stuff on the cheap rather than properly and professionally.

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by Aza on Dec 13, 2016 14:24:57 GMT 1, I used to run adult websites in the early days. Across all the free gallery pages I had, it was 1 million hits per day. And this was serving photos and videos, so was pretty bandwidth intensive. This was all done as an amateur from home. I couldn't afford for pages to be slow loading, everything had to be lightning fast.

Unfortunately building and maintaining a system that can handle sudden surges in concurrent users, as happens with more popular drops, isn't easy or cheap. Inadequate infrastructure will just fall over, as seen with the d-face drop the other day. Given the option of rolling their own (and all that comes with it) or using a relatively stable third party system for a nominal fee, it's a no brainer for most people.

Daniel Arsham Future Relic 06, by randomname on Dec 14, 2016 16:53:50 GMT 1, I mentioned the similarity on his Instagram. He said he did it first. Then deleted my comment and blocked me after I pointed to evidence of the contrary. Oh, and he called me homeboy. Haven't heard that one since the 90s.

As far as his work goes, it looks like style over substance. Trying to be conceptual with other people's concepts.

The next two sentences after "cünt" would seem to nullify your response. If you take someone else's idea and claim it for your own, you're not making great art. Doesn't matter how pretty you make it.

It's just as much about execution. Does KAWS have great ideas? Not really(and I'm the hugest fan), but his execution is flawless. Could say this for about pretty much every single artist if you want to nitpick.
I'd argue that Daniel's take on these is much more succinct and relevant than the other metal ones. IMO casting those in metal loses the desired affect and they're really not good(even the Stipe ones).
