Really think that is highly unlikely regardless of what he said. The logo he designed would suggest he was having a laugh.

I'm generalizing.
I would really hope that Hockney was taking the piss and using them for the publicity.
Like they used him.
Edit: No offence meant to any bastards that buy The Sun.

David Hockney 🏴 Painting • Show News • Art For , by yorkie on Feb 15, 2017 23:34:02 GMT 1, I would like to buy a David Hockney book and print The print will be framed, and the book will be displayed I wish to pay £5,000 I have the cash available I live in Kent, but cover London and the home counties so can collect if the book and print reside there XX Hi Bren,
I noticed that you were offering 5k for this - I am not selling mine but thought you should know that the price of the last ones to go was 5250 plus delivery ....
I have seen two go at auction - one was art edition D (751-1000) and the last one of the prints to sell out - it fetched 7,350.
The first one I think was posted on the sumo thread and went for over 10k.
Just feel that if you are looking for one you should have the right expectations....
Best wishes
Yorkie

David Hockney 🏴 Painting • Show News • Art For , by mardy1 on Feb 16, 2017 9:58:08 GMT 1, I visited yesterday with my missus. Membership was definitely the way to go as the queues were long and members could really come and go as they pleased ( with a small queue.)
Be aware the gallery is uncomfortably busy and my advise would be to go early or visit later in the day.
The audio guides at £3.75 were extremely useful at filtering out the fact that it was so packed and I intend to visit again during a much quieter time.
I thought the art curation was exceptional and some of the larger canvases of Yorkshire (2006 onwards) were stunning.
Little tip - I noticed that the Gallery had The Sumo Book ( limited 9000) for sale to members at £1575, so if you were tempted -a no brainier to buy membership.

You maybe right
I have £5k for one, or £5300 if its framed
thats £1500 clear profit tax free for someone thats done nothing more than having the foresight to order one, pay by card, sign for delivery and stored it for a couple of months.
a pretty good return
if i don't get one, i will sulk, spit the dummy, resent everyone with one, and start buying the Scum newspaper

Was auctioned in sunny old Harrogate!
My sister lives just outside and given the close proximity to where Hockney was born noticed on a trip in that there was a 'local' auction for the 'D' version - It was a 'in person' auction (remember those!)... there was also a nice sketch that he had done circa 1990 that also went under the hammer!
Hope this helps

I have the tulips - purchased it when it first came out - there were plenty of A's still available but for me the tulips really jumped off the print itself.... I think it would have been nice to have had the option to buy more of the prints as I really didn't want another book!!! So I understand entirely what you did but guess 'buyers remorse' is always in the back of your mind when you pay a significant sum!
In my opinion I do not see these prints going any direction other than up BUT like everyone says - buy it because you love it and only worry what it cost should you need to sell!
Enjoy....

David Hockney 🏴 Painting • Show News • Art For , by yorkie on Feb 16, 2017 23:06:17 GMT 1, Oh and I forgot to mention - my sister told me there was a lot of interest in the Hockney as people were not aware that this had been out for months and available on-line, shows that forums like this are a very useful and informative place to find out about these sort of releases....
I was born in Yorkshire and still have a house in the Dales but I guess some 'folk' still prefer auctions in person and don't use the internet for everything!!
Apparently there was talk that there is a new President of the United States but its only a rumour! (lol)

David Hockney 🏴 Painting • Show News • Art For , by Unica on Feb 16, 2017 23:26:38 GMT 1, My first choice would of been B, it stood out to me from the others, but I was pretty late to the party and was fortunate that one Art book C got returned to Taschen near me. They had long since sold out so I suppose I was fortunate to get one at all, then once I opened it I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the print. My impulsive nature led me to buying the B print on the secondary, I'm intend on keeping the B tulips print but not really sure I can justify having two.

May I ask what you asked the framer to do? I may do something similar with mine. What type of glass is that? I don't see any refections.

Thanks guys. It was framed by Ricardo (Pauli Frames). He'd done another Hockney for me in the same style which I really liked. I'll post it when I have a moment. It's floated but set inside a mount. White frame and mount and non reflective museum glass.

Did you get both books? There is a second book, only just posted out. It's much smaller than the Sumo, but still a substantial chronology of his work.
Congratulations. Tulips is my favourite.
