RYCA π¬π§ Ryan Callanan β’ Star Wars β’ Smiley β’ New Release , by GVD on Jul 12, 2008 10:54:48 GMT 1, I think the stencil is pretty unbalanced. The face has allot more detail then the rest of the stencil so you can see its photoshopped in. I guess the image of the traffic warden he used was to small as a lot of detail is missing due to the high contrast.
But the idea is pretty funny and good luck with the sale.

i didn't use photoshop. i a vector based programme called enroute
Far be it from me to comment, but
seditions: I am not in any way having a go here I just think it would save a lot of shit for you and your artists if you showed the work completed rather than 90% finished. Why encourage negative comments by showing and trying to sell unfinished artwork

i agree. his last piece with the caravan looked infinately better finished than the awfull preview you posted.
you don't seem to be doing ryca any favours posting these unfinished pics.

We believe strongly that people should have the opportunity to see how art is actually developed. This might encourage people to have a go themselves.
This work is completed, and this is the exact image the screens will be made from. We also always offer a considerable discount pre-publication. It is hard to see what the issue is really, since there will also be the opportunity to buy when the print has been made (assuming it does not sell out in advance, as 'Mondrivan' did).

basically the same thing, just a different method.
Even if he does handdraw it himself it is just my opinion that the stencil looks unbalanced.

RYCA π¬π§ Ryan Callanan β’ Star Wars β’ Smiley β’ New Release , by goffy on Jul 12, 2008 13:51:40 GMT 1, I seem to remember other people putting early versions of their work on here for people to look at/comment on. Rourke for instance does it quite often. I don't see anything wrong with it, but why do some on here slag certain people and not others for doing the same thing.

Does Rourke try and sell unfinished work though?
I've no issue with anyone putting work in progress on for comment like Rourke and many others do, but wait until it is finished before trying to sell it...
And why make comments like "RYCA has hand drawn the artwork" when he admits he used "a vector based programme called enroute"? It doesn't matter how it is created as long as you tell it like it is...
Simple things...

Rourke does it to show us the process and get feedback, S-Editions do it to sell prints.
Edit: What MM said.

Hand drawn actually. If you don't like it that's fair enough, but please do not misrepresent the work.

No different than buying concert tickets in advance. You get in early, you get a discount. I seem to remember Brit Art/Eyestorm doing that with Micallef.

Completely different...
With concert tickets you know what you're getting... Did Eyestorm show half finished Micallefs and offer the final version for sale? Genuine question...

RYCA π¬π§ Ryan Callanan β’ Star Wars β’ Smiley β’ New Release , by felix on Jul 12, 2008 14:05:54 GMT 1, I can rely on a company like Eyestorm to put out consistently good work, so I don't think that is relevant Goffy.
All I am trying to say is that I think your prices are far too high and the sales technique is very see-through. As advice I would say lower your prices and show actual pictures of the work, but who cares about your customers right? Take the money and run.
