Funny and rock " too much too young " attitude answer :
Problems :
singers, bands, etc .... When they don't die because of drugs, alcohol, addictions, or fall in a deep forgiveness, etc ... Still have a come back on stage ( or make poor shameful CDs ) when they approach 60 or 70 - lol , I refuse to listen to these puppets .
Some are still talking about the weather or themselves or both on TV..
As old and bad ( they play themselves then ) actors making a apparition in blockbusters movies..
Some are talking politics ( lol, Eastwood and his last racists comments ) ..,
Usually we can see some of these floating in Gala cover, as guests in chips and champagne Hollywood or Cannes Parties..,
For contemporary art, you have to be on the guest list of a gallery and you can see between chips and beers ( UK location :-) the shadow of the man, used to make artworks in mostly anonymous contest.
For the street-artists, it's easier, they make prints ( wall for the most courageous are too high and the ladder too heavy).
In fine, from A to Z , everybody wants to eat , make profit and earn the most of money until their death.
Can we blame them ?

I completely understand his motivations, but what compels deNiro and Pacino to keep trotting out there with the stuff they're churning out? They should've retired in the 80s.
That brings up an interesting question. Athletes retire because their bodies give up on them, but does an artist have that same career arc? I personally think that my creativity peaked in the early 20s and after that some sort of pessimism and realism took over. Does anyone feel the same way or disagree completely? Which artists are still going strong in their old age?
Most of athletes have pathetic end of carriers ( look Maradona even La Motta ( Raging Bull ), Comsneci etc.,, , they eat, they take drugs, they comment football in rotten tv shows, they make shows etc .., So this comparison that made our friend upstairs is not very good.
