What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by Bigal 1987 on Mar 29, 2022 17:27:46 GMT 1, My first was the Banksy “forgive is our trespasses” poster, envelope etc, Then i got the bug!! I now have 1st and 2nd ed welcome mats (will eventually frame one of them), “Banksy Peckham rock” (framed), d*face valentines card and invader stickers on their way. Always on the look out for more pieces from different artists, just finding my way at the moment.
Apart from all the spam, this site is amazing, keep it up 👍🏻

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by Trevorm on May 30, 2022 14:31:52 GMT 1,

We are going back quite a long time……. I remember entering a ballot, and being successful in the Sunday Times for the limited edition ‘Melting Clock’ silkscreen Dali back in 1976 - I’ve still got the letter they sent confirming the award. From memory I reckon I paid £300(ish) for it.
The signed ‘His Family’ Lowry is an Art Guild print that I picked up soon after from a small gallery that used to be in Bromley - it was £75.00
Also from way back - around about the same time - heralded the arrival of the Michael English ‘Superball’, which I suppose was the start of my interest in modern and graffiti style stuff.
All 3 pieces remain in the collection.

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by dave4 on Jun 12, 2022 1:57:22 GMT 1, The first "real" art work that I purchased was a set of 4 signed Robert Longo prints. When I was in college, I took art classes and my art application teacher showed us his work and we discussed how it was "created" and the controversy around it. I fell in love with it and when I got my first job out of college, I took my first paycheck and bought them. Back in 2000, they were not very expensive. But that has really changed. I still love them and they are the highlight of the bedroom.

What was your first ever Art Purchase?, by telmooh on Jul 12, 2022 15:40:49 GMT 1, My first ever art purchase was 'Blue Deer' by Belgian artist Dzia. It was a limited edition screen print of 40, but I was able to buy an AP from him directly during one of his first ever solo shows. Got a few pieces of him in my collection ( including a personal one on my body ) and he kind of became one of my personal 'friends' who I speak/see regulary.
By far my most favourite artist
