I want a good condition print, for sure. But I am unsure how it can be touted as 'Mint' when it's framed and not willing to unframe it even after getting a quote to do so (£750 +vat allegedly) and if it was fine, I would obviously buy it....just frustrating. Would you spend that money on something that you can only see the front face? Or is it me?

750 to unframe ?? Who the hell is charging that ??...just a bogus price so you take the risk of buying framed IMO

In the case of expensive prints, but also old cars, I usually ask the seller if he is ok to have car / print inspected / unframed, under the condition that if nothing is amiss I pay, and if something comes up it is his problem.

I chose the garage / framer.

This usually deters the jokers and suits people who are honest just fine.

Seems too easy to sell Banksy prints, they know they can wait, no need to lift a finger for a potential buyer, in another 3 months it'll be worth £1k more (providing it stays mint in that damn frame!) lol

£750 is a joke. If you google andrew wheeler paper conservationist he's very experienced and works on behalf museums Ect, he once charged me £60 to unframe a print that was float mounted by mr frame man. Came out perfect

It is a shame that some businesses take this position.  Some will act as if they are doing you a favor by selling you something for 20k and are counting on desperation to push the deal through.  I have found it rare to get a quote besides "mint" from this business model when you are unable to do a face to face deal and see the work in person.  There will unfortunately always be institutions that do not value service.  In this case the gallery is letting you know what they value and it doesn't appear to be your business.

You realize the pound has averaged the low 1.40's for all of 2016 except for literally the day before the vote on improper market sentiment and is today at 1.37. That's about a 3-400 dollar savings on a £11-12k print. Not exactly a golden opportunity

I live in the uk, and don't see why this person asking to buy a print and take advantage of a currency, deserves a fuck off response.
