Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by batemanz on Feb 28, 2016 15:37:00 GMT 1, The title really is a very poor pun, doesn't seem to fit the image (beyond the mention of fish) and will probably put off more people than it wins over, I fear.
I think the title fit the image very good. The original painting is done in Lofoten, Norway. A place where people trust and rely on Cod to bring food on their table and some money in their pockets. They have a fear that the government will take their seas and give it to the oil industry. They will keep on beeing fishermen and in cod they trust:-)

Now, if the deal is free Cod for the rest of the government's life, well then I can see the title making sense.

Yeah I bet that happens real often: 'I love that print, but I don´t like the title, I will not buy it!' or 'I hate that print, but the title is so cool, I will buy it!' I understand that it sound ridiculous, but if the viewer is to engage with the artwork enough to buy it and hang it, unless it's just astonishingly beautiful and demands no thought whatsoever, they have to understand the artwork on some level and develop a personal relationship with it. Other than the image itself the artist normally has only one opportunity to influence this process, namely its title. This is a silly, jocular title, but I don't think it's a silly, jocular piece, and I don't think the title assists the viewer - or the artist - in any way.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by Dibbs 45 on Mar 1, 2016 11:26:44 GMT 1, I'm surprised the word subjective hasn't been used yet, as this applies with most art. Fisherman and Cod are not usually linked to Graff or street art, but each to their own. Pobel it has to be said has done some strange images, and great placement, yet that do not appeal to everyone. Dolk who has collaborated with him got a lot of stick for the wheelchair image that I remember started massive debate on here. Just as some people like balaclavas on their wall, others don't. Both seem to do site gags that are a play on perceived images and other images with some sociological or political comment. Each seem to have a relevance to area. The Fisherman image is perhaps to do with below.
"In July 2012 when Pøbel curated the street art event Komafest in Vardø, Norway, where international street artists participated to decorate a fishing community heavily hit by depopulation"
I personally wouldn't have this on the wall, but I'm sure there are others that would. And if it reaches anyone on any level then that fine. I don't know the message behind this by the way. Perhaps there should be a thread debating the messages behind Pobel and Dolk, as Norwegian street art has a uniqueness of its own.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by ABC on Mar 1, 2016 11:57:02 GMT 1, ^^I was led to believe (from a good source) that the image above is reference to an event that happens yearly when the Norweigen females dress in traditional attire for a parade/celebration (cant remember the name). Some then end up a little intoxicated due to the frivolities of the night and let their guard down (hence the knickers around their ankles/bag of shit appearance).

I must admit my first reaction involved WTF is that - why in gods name would you put that on a wall.
In reality it means little to me - but then I can imagine some one in remote Norway wondering quite why I have Mickey Mouse shooting someone in the head on my wall so ..... its all subjective

Slight variation I got from a Norwegian is that the new generation are forgetting / losing their local custom represented by the dress
