Art Auction Result Providers, by loartve on Jun 4, 2016 19:03:22 GMT 1, Artprice is quite pricey and they don't have the rights to images to quite a large modern and contemporary artists, which is annoying m. Artnet do something similar but its incredibly expensive as they limit you to a certain number of searches based on how much you pay (I'd recommend Artprice over Artnet for sure but both are paid subscriptions)... not really aware of any good free services that can compete with these two but all ears

I subscribe annually to art price for around Β£150. For that I get upcoming auctions, auction records (traceable through favourite artists etc), online sales and all sorts of goodies. It's become a regular 'friend' in my inbox.

Example: Recent print sale (last night, London). A bunch of Banksy, a STIK Liberty for 10,000 GBP(!)

Art Auction Result Providers, by Pattycakes on Aug 25, 2016 8:02:53 GMT 1, Hi Mia,
no there is nothing free that's any good. Sotheby's and Christie's generally do not show images of sold works (where the image is under copyright still) so if it's the text you're after then you're good, if you need to see the images you're pretty much out of luck.
As people have said Artnet is the best but it's the most expensive. You'll be looking at a minimum of Β£500 a year and that would be for a handful of searches.
My advice go with art price. $150 annually is cheap for the product they offer.

Looking at my billing history, the past two years have been billed at $398 a year for more searches than I could possibly use (a few hundred) under the Expert level of the price database. There is a more expensive option titled Appraiser but I have no idea how much that costs nor how many more searches that buys you.

Art Auction Result Providers, by Pattycakes on Aug 26, 2016 9:45:38 GMT 1, Lee you must be on a very decent grandfathered plan. Current costing is:
One day pass is $32.50 for 5 searches.
Individual Rollover is $42.50 for 10 searches (lasts a month)
Expert is $450 a year 150 Searches
Appraiser is $1175 450 Searches.
They also do bulk packages if your needs run into the thousands.

Art Auction Result Providers, by mla on Aug 26, 2016 13:47:02 GMT 1, Do Artnet and Artprice produce the same results for a given search?
I looked in to joining Artnet about a year ago, but the search limitations are a bit off putting. Even the appraiser package seems a little light in terms of the volume of searches you get.

Art Auction Result Providers, by 11 on Oct 15, 2016 10:42:09 GMT 1, Not sure that including eBay is a wise move as there can be a lot of manipulation (not saying it doesn't go on elsewhere too) but do you know if the DB @ $20k was a valid sale.....seems to be over priced or has Choe become hot again ?
it might be better to have a second chart for eBay sales v legitimate auction house results

Not against paying full price if I have to, but it seems discounts are offered fairly regularly.

Is anything above the "basic" plan worth it?

Good luck.

Art Auction Result Providers, by Pattycakes on Jul 6, 2017 12:35:31 GMT 1, Depends what you are selling. It's all on value. I get different rates from different houses, ranging from 0% to 6%. But if you are a first time seller, and the value is moderate expect the big houses to give you no deals, and you'll be on 15% 10 if you're lucky. Feel free to PM me and I'll give you a few pointers
