Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by concrete jungle on Sept 23, 2023 16:07:05 GMT 1, I have one - it’s up there with my all time favourite buys. These really don’t come up much these days - mostly in the hands of collectors I’d think. My guess based on rarity would be about the same as previous poster - £2.5k? Mind you I wouldn’t let mine go for that😬 GLWTS

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by sapi on Sept 23, 2023 22:19:32 GMT 1, Evening all. Potentially looking at letting my Blu CMYK go - does anyone have an accurate idea of value? I appreciate any help you can give me. nice! mine is framed like that as well. CMYK is the rare Blu print that has broader appeal - fun/funny/with a small red bit of romantic. i saw a CMYK available in 2019 on ebay for over $5000 and it disappeared (though not certain it sold, or for how much). otherwise i haven't seen these for sale in a long time.
the V&A Museum collected this work, which is extremely rare for street art prints. (collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O1160800/cmyk-print-blu/)
i believe it should sell in the $5k-10k range (and would not sell mine in that range, would sell a lot of other work before i got to this print in that price range, i believe it should be much more given Blu's peers and the limited number of collectible works, but also recognise that the market has not matured yet). with no established resale market for Blu (still), and no resellers with inventory, it may sell quickly at $5k, or you might need to go to $4k or $3k for a faster sale (e.g., if you need money faster). an auction might get the best price (if collector interests align), but it can also hit well below retail (scroll through the rest of the results at the auction that just sold Blu's Monkey to see what i mean: www.tateward.com/auction/search/?au=98&sd=2&g=1).

Thanks for the information Sapi; much appreciated! Looks like my curiosity on the price will remain a mystery for now and I totally agree on CMYK being the most wall friendly blu.
I've also now realised the water tight system I once thought I had for keeping hold of all art receipts and COA's appears to be a tad leaky as I can't find the original POW receipt!
Thanks for the comments and interest!

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by sapi on Nov 20, 2023 23:59:06 GMT 1, Considering selling my Blu - Demos print. It's the edition of 130 from Studiocromie, I am the original owner. What kind of price do these go for these days? I haven't seen one around for a while since no one has taken this, i am giving my input, which starts with a little background.
in 2007, Blu painted two building-sized murals of Demos siblings, in Bologna (blublu.org/b/2007/04/01/3661/) and Berlin (blublu.org/b/2007/05/01/berlin/). Both murals were featured in Minima Muralia, Blu's 2003-2018 mural survey book: inside front cover (two pages of Demos details), item 54 (three pages of Berlin Demos) and item 58 (one page of Bologna Demos). Blu devoted 6 pages to Demos, placing it in the top 4 murals by page count (and the only mural of the top four to have related signed collectible works).
Blu's giant murals, and stop-motion videos, are his primary art. His drawings and prints are a way to collect art related to those murals and videos (similar to collecting prints related to Banksy's public works or photos of performance art in the 1970s (the performance was the art & performance documentation was collectible related to the art and could be displayed)). Blu has also released drawings and prints unrelated to his murals and videos, and I believe those are less desirable (excepting CMYK, which is cute/sweet, rare for Blu, and iconic).
Demos (standard edition) and Demos (UV) are among Blu's best prints: (1) they function like a large detailed sketch for Blu's iconic Demos, who needed two murals; (2) they have classic Blu OCD features (where a lot of little things - in this case small men - build a big thing (a monster examining a small figure that it may be about to consume)); (3) they are politically engaged and open to interpretation (e.g., they depict a demon, like the Borg or capitalism, in the process of assimilating an individual into a monster society (and it looks like, as the Borg noted, "resistance is futile")); & (4) they are beautiful/sublime, with countless figures lovingly rendered to make an identifiable whole, and nice to live with (I mention this because some of Blu's works are on the uncomfortable to painful to look at spectrum).
I believe the standard edition of Rennes is Blu’s best signed/editioned print. It took $15k to get mine from me last year (and I still have a Rennes UV). A standard edition of Headquarters, a smaller print but another which also had a UV edition and was mural adjacent, was listed for ~$17k on Artsy (for a year, I suspect it didn’t sell at that price, although it should have). I’d place Demos as $10k+, but it depends on market demand and how motivated the seller and buyer are to close the deal versus hold the price.
A standard edition Demos print came up for sale in May 2023 for $3500 (from Australia, on Artsy). I posted about it on this board and it sold within a week (and my belief is the buyer got a deal; it was ok for the seller as well, these prints were ~$500 on release and 7x in 10-15 years, or even 5x after seller's fees, 4x profit, is a solid result (not counting the priceless value of living with the Blu over that time frame)
at some point the market will come for Blu - art historic peer of Banksy and the rest of innovative folks who blew up street art on the Internet on sites like Wooster Collective - and then his pricing will be easier to quantify and all these prices will look like the bargain they are.

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by Romulus on Nov 21, 2023 8:58:15 GMT 1, Nice background and knowledge, Sapi.
I share your thoughts on Demos and BLU in general. I haven’t seen many prints better than this in all the years looking at this forum, and probably only Banksy challenges him for quality of overall work imho. But BLU also has that extra appeal of not giving a shit about the market, and putting his beliefs at the centre of everything he does

I love reading your post sapi, if I can add some info the Demos from Australian was glued to the back of the frame. not sure if it sold in that condo but it might be.
lately there was a Gaza sold for 3200 usd, Monkey (with cond idssue) sold for 1.3k and my CMYK unsold for 3.5k eu. Demos is one of the best BLU's print but I doubt it would sell for 5k nowadays.
happy to be proof wrong

I love reading your post sapi, if I can add some info the Demos from Australian was glued to the back of the frame. not sure if it sold in that condo but it might be. lately there was a Gaza sold for 3200 usd, Monkey (with cond idssue) sold for 1.3k and my CMYK unsold for 3.5k eu. Demos is one of the best BLU's print but I doubt it would sell for 5k nowadays. happy to be proof wrong

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by budoukiba on Nov 26, 2023 14:09:33 GMT 1, Considering selling my Blu - Demos print. It's the edition of 130 from Studiocromie, I am the original owner. What kind of price do these go for these days? I haven't seen one around for a while since no one has taken this, i am giving my input, which starts with a little background. in 2007, Blu painted two building-sized murals of Demos siblings, in Bologna ( blublu.org/b/2007/04/01/3661/) and Berlin ( blublu.org/b/2007/05/01/berlin/). Thanks so much for this info! I didn't actually know there was a mural in Bologna too, I only knew about the Berlin one.
I'll post some pictures and more info on the print here shortly

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by budoukiba on Nov 26, 2023 14:23:17 GMT 1, Above are pictures of the print. Can people see them? They load and then disappear for me on the browser I usually use, but seem to work ok on a different browser.
So I am the original owner of the print. It has been stored wrapped in acid-free tissue in the original Studiochromie tube (tube with sticker above). The tube also has my name and address on it.
I'm in no big rush to sell it so won't be accepting low-ball offers, but I am looking to move house at some point next year and the money would be very useful, hence now selling.
UK based, and would prefer a UK buyer and to meet in person, but open to offers from anywhere.
According to replies above, the last one to sell was for 3.5k but was glued to a backing board, so I guess I'm looking for something between this and the 10k rough estimate mentioned above.
Thanks!

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by rustym on Nov 30, 2023 15:53:25 GMT 1, Prescription Art have had one advertised at £1000 for an age. I’d half that valuation at present……but I still think all his work is vastly undervalued at present, who knows in a years time it could be double that £1000 figure.
