New DRAN solo show 2016, by Daniel Silk on Apr 24, 2016 18:25:06 GMT 1, Last year Dran seemed to be the artist most people were talking about the most, yet recently I have really noticed that same buzz! Any reason for that?
I'm not a fan of his work I find it a bit dull.

I think there are a few reasons for reduced discussion around Dran. The main reason is there hasn't been anything to talk about regarding any events or a new body of work. Also I think the cull in members could be part of the explanation. Lots of Dran fans one way or another are no longer on here.
I'm surprised you find Dran's work dull. Do you think his work lacks painterly skill? Can control? Conceptual application? Social commentary? Emotion? Comedy? Relevance? Artisitic integrity? Progression? Thematic exploration?
Would be great to hear your view expanded.
I personally, hold the counter view - Dran is one of the most interesting street artists to come out of France.

New DRAN solo show 2016, by posterbob on Apr 24, 2016 18:54:16 GMT 1, The purpose of the Dran discussion was to hype up the prices of his hand-finished prints. Now that the owners have sold them they no longer care.

Not everyone - i still have mine but i think the live painting show confused people for some reason. so funny seeing the opening night, completely mugged everyone off.

We have seen it many times, and I think Stik is the current one.

If they have sold them, then why aren't the new owners hyping them up?
Your logic is flawed and your sentiment cynical.
Have some faith brother! ✌️

But that's Art we all see different things.

New DRAN solo show 2016, by Daniel Silk on Apr 24, 2016 19:11:15 GMT 1, Harsh but I think it could be true. We have seen it many times, and I think Stik is the current one. i think it is down to supply and demand with stik, just not enough out there at the moment Im certainly no expert on Stik, but didn't he produce thousands of posters? And with most of his work looking very similar doesn't it run the risk of getting to a point were it can't go anywhere new.
Sorry, maybe this should be on the Stik thread

Sadly looks like he is next for the "pump & dump" treatment. Once the prices are pumped enough - the dumping will begin

You do not see that with any artists apart from one! Anyway on with dran!!

New DRAN solo show 2016, by posterbob on Apr 24, 2016 19:51:10 GMT 1, If you define popularity as the ability to make a quick profit sure. Stik is neither an internationally nor nationally renowned artist and his auction results are highly suspect.
