It's all about the money. fairey saw an opportunity and took it. Just use other peoples images and do some photoshop rehash change a couple of things, brand them and sell them for affordable prices to American dreamers. People who like to impress their friends that they have good taste in art and have never visited a museum or an art gallery.

Lackluster collabs like this police photo is just the continuation of a few years of declining quality from Fairey. Some of his earlier collaborations, Al Rockoff in particular, are powerful and expand on photography in new and interesting ways. This sadly does not. Fairey is an amazing artist with a great body of work that he continues to dilute. Demand better, and forgo purchasing this stuff.

I think his version of the image was only done as a quick illustration for a blog post, not for a print or artwork... although I'm sure a more heavily styled version could be in the works!

I can understand that. I guess I'm comparing it to recent releases like Peace Guard and the Bad Brains print. Its not crazy compelling. I liked his portraits like this
