Donald Trump, by Coach on Jan 20, 2021 20:12:53 GMT 1, Now can we close this thread? Why we gave him another platform on here in the first place is beyond comprehension. I disagree. Politics is interwoven with Art. Much like the What Music Are You Listening To (good), or Whatโs Your Pad Look Like (insipid), one can choose to not open, or comment, and open something else. I expect him dead within a year, hopefully Elvis-style.
Particularly in the art of protest, which spawned the birth of this forum (admittedly now not so much itโs raison dโetre).

Donald Trump, by WOOF on Jan 20, 2021 20:26:16 GMT 1, Thereโs a distinct difference in hateful content between this thread, and the others you mentioned. Again, one has the option to ignore. Politics, and Religion, bring out the hate.
Itโs weird that youโre so comfortable welcoming the hate. What benefit does that bring an art forum?

I understand your frustration. As an unapologetic Remoaner I have often found the Brexit thread distressing. Despite often wishing that it wasnโt on the forum (and even more so the advert banner for Vote Leave at the top of the page) Iโm not sure that shutting it down would have been the right thing to do. Like this thread it inflamed some vitriol from some members, but it was, also like this thread, in the โchat boardโ away from the art sections, and people wanted to post on it.
What hate is it that you donโt like? That directed at Trump, that directed at those who dislike him, or the manner in which we talk to each other here these days?

Thatโs the problem today, too many people living on the surface, nobody digging down.

Definitely not Trump, what a buffoon. And now he's in bed with the Saudis for some golf course BS. I think Biden is too old. Can you imagine the gaffs during his next term? We need someone new with bright ideas. Where's my JFK?....sounds like a good title for a new piece of art. We'll just have to wait and see. However, I do have faith in the people of this country to move us forward in a positive direction. Time will tell.

Donald Trump, by Wearology on Nov 16, 2022 4:26:28 GMT 1, Ron DeSantis will run and win. He is from a swing state and he just won that state by 20% in the most recent election. He was able to get a majority of the votes in areas that usually vote against Republicans and it seems that minorities that are known to vote for Democrats even like him. The Democrats will make up stuff against him like they were raped by him in 1974 and his former bunk mates from camp in 1981 will say that he likes to Dutch Oven his own farts under the covers. But in the end if NATO and the US are not in WW3 in 2024, he will win.

Keep in mind this country is not Florida. Florida is only one small part of this country. Besides I think there are a lot of people who didn't like DeSantis using those immigrant laborers as political pawns. Hopefully, you and the rest of this nation will be able to keep an open mind during this next election and figure out what is best for all of us and not just vote along party lines.

Donald Trump, by Sebastian Dusseldorf on Nov 16, 2022 12:40:15 GMT 1, Im surprised to see so much talk of politics on this forum with very little crossover in to the art world. What gives? Thanks for asking. It appears that many people (incl. me) are interested to discuss this crucial topic with other who have at least one similar interest (art), but probably come from very different places, backgrounds, what not. That's great, isn't it? ๐

and as for the drive to push things - that isnโt how it works, his second term the GOP had enough control to block everything he attempted to do, much the same as they will for the next 2 years. It doesnโt matter what folk want to achieve if the opposition has more votes, preventing anything being approved. Mitch McConnel made it pretty clear his aim was nothing got approved in Obamas second term, and sadly he was successful at it.

Donald Trump, by Grillocracy on Nov 16, 2022 18:48:28 GMT 1, DeSantis could be a decent candidate for Republicans but they will need to severe ties with Trump which is something that they have been unwilling to do even after he lost the house, the senate, the presidency, and now killing the "red wave". Not to mention his insurrection which Republican leaders blamed on him for about 24 hours before falling back in line to kiss the ring.
They are simply too scared of losing his "MAGAGA" base not to get behind his run for presidency and he certainly won't throw his support to DeSantis. And I think this last election proved that the majority of Americans are tired of the fact that the only thing Republicans stand for now is Trump grievances. But maybe Republicans will get lucky and Trump will get charged in one or more of the legal issues facing him and won't be able to run.
Meanwhile I would be shocked if Biden runs again but I do find it humorous when people make fun of him for being old like Trump is not only about as old and confused (like talking about Revolutionary War soldiers seizing all of the airports), plus being clinically obese. I'd love to see some new blood on both sides if Republicans can quit Trump and Democrats can quit Biden, someone who can excite people the way Obama did.
