Donald Trump, by Happy Shopper on Nov 10, 2016 19:38:02 GMT 1, What this article is saying though is still true... Trump has made all these horrible racist, sexist, stupid statements Is that not your opinion but a fact? Who makes you the arbiter of such decisions?
Pretty sure that's a fact and not just opinion. He has said some terrible things, and on camera. Of course morality is an ever moving thing, so perhaps it's acceptable for politicians to say those things about Mexicans and Women!?
It's a also a fact though that people want change and see him as their last hope. And that's the saddest thing, which is what I think that journalist is saying. There should be a better alternative than Trump.

Donald Trump, by RoboJ on Nov 10, 2016 19:43:15 GMT 1, lol if anyone wasn't a con man it's Trump as he's been pretty straightforward during his whole campaign He openly admits he has managed to get around the tax system. He doesn't contribute to his own country.
Do you imagine Trump will become a wealthier person now he is president or do you think he will do the right think for the country and close the loop holes he has exploited.

Trump has made all these horrible racist, sexist, stupid statements Is that not your opinion but a fact? Who makes you the arbiter of such decisions? yet still people voted for him! Yes people did, in fact about 30% of Latinos did and 13% of black males did. Not what you'd think based on what the media was telling us. www.cnn.com/election/results/exit-pollsThe masses have been duped by a con man. Nobody has been duped, everyone is acutely aware of his faults. He still provides a kind of alternative that we may have never seen before. If he doesn't deliver he will be gone in 4 years. And I repeat - I am no conservative. If we were to go down a list of issues I'm going to side on the liberal side at least 80% of the time. I voted for Bill Clinton and I used to attend leftist political rallies. Some of the things on Trump's agenda I am completely and absolutely 100% opposed to. But then again I am disgusted by the holier than though - I'm right you're wrong - attitude being pushed by the left. As if they must have Clinton. They are the deciders of who is allowed to be president. I can only imagine what the media would be saying if Clinton were elected and conservatives took to the streets en masse protests. Going to DNC rallies and assaulting people. The lack of tolerance for opposing opinions from the "tolerant" left is horrific.
I can't quite understand how you can support someone with zero experience, mocks disabled people, saying 'black lives matter' is trouble, sexist, wants to block all Muslims entering, build walls, and DOES NOT BELIEVE IN CLIMATE CHANGE, wants closer ties with putin, should be made the most powerful man in the world, is quite worrying.
Neither was the best candidate, but the worst certainly won (and polled fewer actual votes).
Do you support the various views espoused? Or think it's 'political correctness gone mad'? Ok to impersonate disabled people and want to deport 11 million? And leave 20 million without healthcare? Grope women using power and stature? Defensible for anyone?

Donald Trump, by nex on Nov 10, 2016 23:53:49 GMT 1, GOP was more or less the same as 2012. Clinton turnout was worse - especially amonst black/hispanic women and then black/hispanic men. Thats why she lost. Plain and simple. The real question is WHY they didnt turn out for her(Dems) image
hostingI find it quite interesting you ignore the obvious increase from white men too.
on some reflection I'd agree with Jonathan Pie

He, like me, is what seems here now to be known as "leftist". I have no clue who he is or what he stands for, and if you put it like that I probably won't agree with many of his political and social viewpoints. But the point he makes just perfectly sums up the USA elections, Brexit, our own Geert Wilders, and even the sentiment on this forum. Go back to the Calais-topic or the One Islam topic to see what I'm talking about. And this guy actually gets it. He gets what he and his leftwing media and political buddies have been doing wrong
The leftist cultural elite claims a monopoly on the truth and people are f**kingfed up with that. I heard a left wing politician here in the Netherlands say, live on national television, that sometimes "you have to ignore what 80% of the people in the country wants because WE KNOW BETTER". I mean..do these people even hear themselves talk? Get the f**koff your supreme cultural vegan social justice warrior safe space multicultural micro aggresion high horse and get your ass back to reality.

As a rightist, do you like being lumped in with supremacists, fascists, etc. I'm sure not. So perhaps tone down the rhetoric when referring to left wing people eh?

Many of those white men were Dems who voted R . Just saying if the minority vote turned out for her, she wins.
edit: reminder that those white men voted for Pres.Obama

Donald Trump, by Daniel Silk on Nov 11, 2016 1:13:00 GMT 1, Watching the news on TVs and it's the same as after Brexit, with the media and people in power who thought they knew everything suddenly realise, or actually still not realise how out of touch with the majority public opinion they are. Hilary got the majority of votes Yeah, same problem in the UK when Labour got in, while Conservatives got more votes.
The voting system just doesn't represent the people well.

Donald Trump, by Daniel Silk on Nov 11, 2016 1:23:14 GMT 1, I think Hilary represented beliefs of what parts of America wanted to be, while Trump represents more of the reality of beliefs that America actually is, and that's how he won.
Hilary tried to be everything to everyone, and I just don't think that style of politician succeeds in today's media world.
Same as in the UK and the Brexit vote, with remain painting a picture of what they wanted the beliefs of people to be, rather than representing a true reflection of people's opinions.

Same as in the UK and the Brexit vote, with remain painting a picture of what they wanted the beliefs of people to be, rather than representing a true reflection of people's opinions. While that may be true to some extent, I think in the end it was choosing the lesser of two evils (which were extremely close to each other) and the majority of the people just didn't believe Hillary was trustworthy. Additionally, the media here in America primarily CNN and most other networks bit it all hook, line and sinker. Pretty much all the media portrayed Hillary as the favorite. I have never seen so many people out of touch with having their finger on the pulse of this country. It was very obvious here in California, but this is such a liberal and different state so I understand that we don't represent the rest of the nation and truly are a minority in our beliefs and views. It seems that as a nation we are very separated by anger and we need to get a handle on that and come together on some level otherwise we will sink ourselves. I myself am tired of career politicians running this country. Although I did not see either candidate as being a viable choice for the job of running this country and did not vote myself, I am glad to see that democracy still is alive and well here in America. I am hoping for the best in the next four years.

Donald Trump, by Coach on Nov 11, 2016 9:33:15 GMT 1, With all due respect to my American friends on here, I do find it both irritating and conceited when your fellow Americans refer to your president as "the leader of the free world". He's the leader of America. And what is meant by "the free world"? It used to mean non communist countries during the Cold War. What does it mean now? And assuming that the uk is part of this free world, I can assure all Americans that I don't consider trump my leader.

I think it has to do with the 2nd amendment, the right to bear arms?
Countries that don't have the right, are not truly free
