Banksy HMV Print, by dgb133 on Jul 26, 2007 21:26:22 GMT 1, Touchy!
The reason the forum is here is to give opinons and advice. And there is honestly reason to be cautious when you're plunking down several grand on prints.
Whatever. Congrats on your gain.

Banksy HMV Print, by Michael Jacob on Jul 26, 2007 21:32:11 GMT 1, I agree! This forum is a great place to voice your concerns. Most people are spending a lot of money, and this forum helps them be both more informed and more cautious. Mosts of the prices were low in my opinion. If the seller was such a huge collector, wouldnt he/she have a better pulse to the value of these prints? Also, when potential buyers have questions, being vague will do nothing but scare people away. I hope the seller is happy with ending the auctions early. I think they left a lot of money on the barrel head. I know I was ready to bid on a few of them. Who knows... it could of all been a big tease anyway... we will never know.

Banksy HMV Print, by danvnuk on Jul 26, 2007 21:40:06 GMT 1, Ive got my receipt from Tom Tom for my prized Banksy - sadly its a thermal credit card receipt, (never occurred to me to get a written reciept - first peice of art I'd ever bought) it spent about 2 years tucked in my wallet and nowadays resembles something akin to the Turin shroud.
But, I do have an email from Stef at POW saying that paticular print's first owner was Tom Tom - so happy days ;D

Banksy HMV Print, by corblimeylimey on Jul 26, 2007 22:32:55 GMT 1, The sellers the real loser here for not advertising correctly & giving all the full information, there's been plenty of examples on ebay of how it should have been done. The seller is supposed to be running a new ebay shop specialising in selling prints, they'll get nowhere with listings like this that are pulled and sold to friends.

Banksy HMV Print, by gbh on Jul 26, 2007 23:00:42 GMT 1, I'm very happy to tell you that I've bought all of these prints... They belonged to a very good friend of mine, who was flabergasted when he read the s**t that you lot were writing in this thread - so sold them all to me for a great price. He is an avid art collector - who pretty much owns every Banksy print, who just wanted to make space on his walls for new prints. Don't be so quick to judge next time.......not everyone who collects Banksy's is a member of this forum.
how did he read this thread if he isn't a member?

call me a synic but i don't believe a f*cking word you say. i've got a ferrari f360 that i put on ebay for £10k. my pal found that on some forum people were questioning my integrity for letting such a prestige car go for such a low start and providing no evidence whatsoever that it may even be remotely legit. so you know what? i let him have it for £10k. now who's the mug?
get real, if you are selling something that is worth starting at £1k then you obviously know some kind of relative value. therefore you can't play the "well i bought them yet i failed to protect my interest" card. the so called a/p? f*ck right off. richard and judy, schnide, knock-off, backdoor, bullsh*t, fake etc, etc. show me a banksy unsigned a/p and i might start to take you seriously. even if it is unsigned it should at least be numbered and labelled "a/p"
so whatever you do, don't come on here and negate a lot of decent people for being sceptical about a charade that quite frankly is both insulting and naive in it's crudeness. good luck to you but well done to your mate. if you ever come to need to shift them, then i hope you have the relavent paperwork. if so, you might realise the potential that your either half-wit, lazy or just plain innocent friend failed to achieve.
nothing personal, just something i can smell.

Banksy HMV Print, by dgb133 on Jul 26, 2007 23:44:41 GMT 1, Yeah, there's a couple of ways of responding to this. Pulling the auctions to be spiteful and sell to a friend is one response. But hehe, who's to say the friend didn't plant this with an alter ego to begin with? He sounds angry but he also sure took advantage of the situation right quick.
And I also think it's kind of funny the people popping up only now all angry that they didn't have a chance to bid.
Yet they completely refrained from posting their thoughts on why they think the auction was legit enough to bid on even though someone was asking for help.
FRIGGIN SNIPERS!!!
Actually I wouldn't have been surprised if all that stuff got bid up ridulous in the last 30 seconds, he should have let them run. It's not like the starting price was dirt cheap.

fortune favours the brave. my guess is that this was a very pre-determined sale, didn't go to plan so the bullsh*t kicked in. like i said, i may be a cynic but really, do try harder, i'm not a mug.

Banksy HMV Print, by RBK on Jul 27, 2007 1:05:02 GMT 1, I think a lot of people on here were going to bid on certain prints in those auctions (I was on one of them).
Think the most important thing is that the forum be a place of asking for help/opinions - rather than calling out people or making baseless claims that auctions are fake and seller's are shady. If you want some reassurance post a question here and the w@llcandy forum - there are many knowledgable collectors that can help you come to an informed decision.

Banksy HMV Print, by gbh on Jul 27, 2007 1:11:10 GMT 1, As far as I'm concerned and on the material available, this lot of auctions simply does not look as straight down the line as I have seen others be. There does seem to be a good series of coincidences here. They might well have been legit, how the hell would I know? I do know one thing though, with the way this auction went down and the series of events associated, I'm happy my hard earned is in my pocket still.
I think it's very good that there are these type of questions being raised. Serious sellers should be more than happy to answer them honestly and openly.

Banksy HMV Print, by RBK on Jul 27, 2007 1:13:19 GMT 1, Oh I agree that sellers should be answer questions. My emails with this seller made me feel comfortable enough to potentially bid one on of the prints (not the backdoor A/P).
Also - you can win an auction and ask to see more photos/receipts/etc. before you pay.

You should really clear everything up before you bid. And if the seller is reluctant to send info to just anyone I can understand but try to agree that he'll at least send you the receipt ---if you win--- and before you pay. But it irks the hell out of me when people win an auction and then refuse to pay before I send them this or that when they never communicated it to me first. That really needs to be agreed upon before you bid in my opinon.

Banksy HMV Print, by stjohn on Jun 5, 2007 11:20:39 GMT 1, There is this unsigned HMV on ebay at the mo: 150128821240
The picture on this site in the prints section has a white banksy tag as part of the image itself, but the one on ebay does not. Does anybody know whether this is/was normal? Surely there was only one version?
Many thanks for any help.

I'd say the picture on this site is a pic of a poster with the white banksy part of the print. The red banksy is hand pressed stamp.
Can anyone say at around what number POW started using the embossed stamp? I'd really appreciate that info.... Thanks
