Lady Gaga released a CD today.  
The artwork on the CD was done by Jeff Koons.
Supposedly 500,000 of the record sleeves are deemed collectors items.
Seems like an awfully large run, but I thought I would share this with you guys who collect this kind of stuff.

American artist Jeff Koons created an 18-and-a-half foot sculpture titled “Coloring Book” that was auctioned off at a charity event near Cannes and managed to fetch $13.2 million USD for AIDS research. A long list of celebrities were in attendance at the annual amfAR event “Cinema Against AIDS” including Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Fassbender and Sienna Miller among many others. The event took place at the Hotel de Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes and included other works up for auction including a Banksy donated by Leonardo DiCaprio which sold for more than a signed Picasso and a portrait of Elizabeth Taylor by Andy Warhol. In total, the evening took in over $35 million USD for the organization.

This is insane although balloon dog red and balloon dog blue plates from a few years ago consistently reach $15000 ish recently. Editions of "only" 2300 those were though.

I don't see how these plates can possibly maintain their value over the next few decades when handfinished Picasso plate editions of 100 go for less, but I could easily be wrong. And the Picassos look much better on display IMO; these seem like gift shop items.

I do love the little Flower Puppy though.

At that price I'd want Mr koons to come round my place with his own tools and choose an appropriate location for his piece of art and then I'd expect him to take the time to place it in that location with bothering me for a free cup of splosh .......


And he can pop by once a week and polish it until I sell it on at a loss.
