CHEAP BARCODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....., by johnnyrubadub on Feb 15, 2008 0:49:27 GMT 1, Of Coarse it's real. Every body is so para these days. Regarding the stamp, its a rubber stamp so no two would be the same, some darker than others. And why put a reserve on it if its a fake? Most of the prints were printed by at least three other outlets before POW paid for the rights to print his work. And they were knocking out more than the one edition of 600 or 750 on most prints... what ever happened to all those Turf war's that were at the Jane's Addiction gig?? Remember those? ? surely some one does on here.. I'd love to hear abit more about this please....most prints were printed by 3 other outlets? POW bought the rights to print banksy? more than one edition of each print? the staple holes and dirt most likely rendered most of the turf less than pristine, but there is a much wider world of dodgy prints out there than turfwar.... more details please rubba, we all need educating.....
I hear some of those down troden turf's survived and mr addiction took them home. Perry spent about 30 grand in TOM TOM that year they were over, most of it on banksy's, he's a massive fan....mission prints was one that did early banksy's

CHEAP BARCODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....., by leumasdarnley on Feb 15, 2008 1:14:16 GMT 1, My question is this if a Banksy print in todays market for example Turf War does not have POW prov what is it worth? I feel its important that possible new collectors know the importance of having a solid provenance. Although POW doesn't have a COA program if you have the registered name of the buyer and the print number this can be verified by POW. Realize that anyone with a high quality scanner and a little ingenuity can replicate almost any print. Over a million hits to this site in a week means to me that a lot of new people are here. Not trying to spread fear but I think its easy to get carried away and it seems like some new faces on here are fueling a hype wagon.

God everyone is so serious, lighten up dudes....
If a turf war doesn't have POW prov what is it worth??? POW were not the only place to sell turf war's. As long as you have the prov from where you bought your print then its fine. Most of the older prints can be traced to where they were sold through.. You have to take some comments with a pinch of salt old boy. not everyone is fueling the hype, especially with our prices, a little better for our cousin's over the pond mind you. A million hits a week, now thats some thing. well done.

CHEAP BARCODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....., by leumasdarnley on Feb 15, 2008 1:43:24 GMT 1, All prov can be verified through POW for most of the prints I have heard of all I am say is its important that people understand that before you buy a banksy even if the original owner bought it from a secondary gallery POW can verify if the print was sold to that gallery etc. Rubadubman I don't know you and I'm not calling you out but your posts regarding unsigned and un-numbered prints did get my attention. Everything is fun with this game until you pay a couple grand for bullshit print. Maybe I just need a drink... Maybe I have been burned... Maybe i'm a p*ick

That's not strictly true though is it or surely this guy would've had it verified

CHEAP BARCODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....., by leumasdarnley on Feb 15, 2008 2:30:35 GMT 1, The unfortunate part is IMO even if the print is real its pretty damn hard to prove it esp. if its not signed. Granted so many Banksy's were bought before he was big and no one thought to save a receipt and if they bought from a secondary gallery that didnt keep records might be tuff. This print "Barcode" looks legit although the Banksy stamp does look pretty dark... so what now....it looks good ?!? My point exactly how can u know.

You have mentioned the turf wars at janes addiction several times, do you actually know what happened to these prints or do feel the need to rattle on about them in the offchance that someone else does? it happened, but there is hardly a glut of turfs out there, so its not really a problem.

CHEAP BARCODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....., by Rude Copper on Feb 15, 2008 10:55:43 GMT 1, i dont know about 3 printers, never heard of that before, unless he's including the la printers? & some of rubadub's claims are, erm dubious, but the janes addiction thing is spot on, the foyer of the academy was plastered with them, upstairs & down, i'd guess inxs of a 100, what happened to them? who knows, the fact is they exist, & were produced as a promotional tool for banksy, & with the permission of pow/pymca. were there any othere instances of promo's?, i remember some liita's being given to a shop in covent garden to promote banksy, possible that this was common practice back in the day? 'Why have folk think you are an idiot...... buy a backdoor print and prove it' the idiot is not nessacarily the person who buys the promo/overun/backdoor print, but the idiot is definetly the person who authorised the printing of these things in the 1st place.

I didn't say it was a problem. I am just talking and just asking if anyone else remembers seeing the turf war's at the gig. And i said i wonder what happened to them. Why are they strange and unfounded suggestions? Just mentioning what i know. No malice in it..

Please PM me if you want to discuss and disagree with everything I seem to write as everyone else finds it a bit dull now.

It's not unusual for promotional prints to be given away but they usually come with tight contracts regarding their disposal to prevent them from winding up on the secondary market.
