Banksy • Paranoid Pictures, by Hubble Bubble on Jan 21, 2019 16:51:43 GMT 1, Maybe I speak to the wrong kind of athletes then. I do remember a conversation with someone once about how they were having highly oxygenated blood that they had taken out while in altitude training put back in before racing. Absolutely, you are right in the fact that I think it happens everywhere. I suspect that most athletes though, if and when challenged, would not resort to the appalling behaviour and arrogant 'catch me if you f**king can' attitude that Armstrong brazenly adopted. Well... now he's been caught and the opprobrium is justified.

Banksy • Paranoid Pictures, by mehor on Jan 21, 2019 17:24:18 GMT 1, There are many athletes doing what he did to some extent. He just got caught. Going to disagree with you here, mate. Armstrong was almost unique both in the scale of the operation that he almost single handedly created and ran and also by how he viciously protected his lie by bullying and threatening. He ruined lives, careers and friendships to prevent what was common knowledge inside the peloton becoming public.
Seriously? Give me one sport where people do not use performance enhancing drugs? I believe people got caught with beta blocker at the Sydney olympics.....the competition was bow and arrow. The least monetary sport there is....

Banksy • Paranoid Pictures, by mrpotatohead on Jan 21, 2019 17:35:38 GMT 1, The whole deal is quite a shame... at the end of the day vanity & ego superseded his love of the sport. Hopefully there was a time when only hard work and pure dedication as a competitor (within the limits of the rules) were his primary motivator. Not a good thing when winning at all costs overrides the passion for what an overall sport stands for... particularly since he could have still had the mechanics of a great athlete and leader with likely just an extra dose of humility. They should start bottling that up and handing it out

I think you have misread my response. I’m not doubting The widespread nature of drug cheating in sport... I’m simply saying that the scale of Armstrong’s transgression and his attitude and belligerence towards his accusers makes him unique.

it's the career ruining & bullying, through his contacts, though chasing down of people that threatened him, refusing to allow them in breaks regardless of the lack of tactical benefit to him and so on

Agree again. Even though i never liked him. The way he trained, the way he rode and his killer instinct were special imho. Ullrich for example had more god given talent, especially his body constitution and lung volume, but Armstrong killed him. And Ulle was juiced pretty good as well 😂

100 mil is chump change for him. He owns 2.7% of uber. Once they take the company public he'll be worth well over a billion.
