Seems a reasonable price for an iconic print from an edition of 10. This sale is creating some contrasting results

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by hal9001 on Jan 11, 2011 19:59:10 GMT 1, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winner's_curse
Economic Theory seems to state that the winner of an auction is really the loser, because they pay more for an item than all of the rest of the market, this auction is evidence of this theory being somewhat true as it looks like some guns came out blazing and now have run out of "dry powder"
The winner's curse is a phenomenon akin to a Pyrrhic victory that occurs in common value auctions with incomplete information. In short, the winner's curse says that in such an auction, the winner will tend to overpay. The winner may overpay or be 'cursed' in one of two ways: 1) the winning bid exceeds the value of the auctioned asset such that the winner is worse off in absolute terms; or 2) the value of the asset is less than the bidder anticipated, so the bidder may still have a net gain but will be worse off than anticipated.

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by hal9001 on Jan 11, 2011 20:03:06 GMT 1, What do people think of the results so far?
I think that 2 people came in with fistfulls of cash and have now run out, the competition was good for the pieces that went early at the expense of those that go late, but the couple at the end of an auction usually get a lift, so I wouldnt be suprised to see higher prices return for lots 64-67
the fact that Banksy Portrait of an Artist reached the low end only bears this out.
