What's the deal with the provenance? Has someone taken it/been given it from the PC office? I'm pretty damn sure that there won't be a PC CoA issued for a individual note!

If you have a letter from Laz I'm sure it's considered authentic.

Anyone who buys this for that price is insane. Even if it is genuine we still mustn't forget that Banksy was giving these out free at a music festival.

At least on the current version of the Paddle8 listing, there is no reference to a Pest Control COA.

It therefore wasn't clear to me whether:

(i) the listing had actually been changed; or

(ii) you were perhaps mixing up two separate things — provenance or record / trail of ownership (although in this case, "alleged provenance" is likely to be more accurate) being distinct and meaning something quite different than a certificate of authenticity.

met I see. I suppose when it says "Provenance - Pest Control Office" I assumed COA from PC. Regardless its a no brainer not to buy. Hoping its not yours.

I'm looking for an authentic Banksy di-faced tenner in good condition. I appreciate that these don't come with COAs or the like but if there are any out there with proof of authenticity or solid provenance then I'd be interested. Not interested in any bought from eBay for example. Thanks

I believe the counterfeiters scanned from a full Banksy tenner sheet, so the size and dimensions are going to be 1:1.  The correct weight of paper shouldn't be too difficult to find either.  I'm just a bit jaded from my recent eBay experience of trying to find a real tenner and this thread should hopefully help others looking for a genuine Di-tenner.  I don't believe price is an indicator, as sellers of fakes I contacted had also listed for quite a lot because they understand the psychology of people associating the cost with authenticity.  I think the best way at this point to determine authenticity is to look at your tenner through a magnifying glass and see if it's got the same grain as the pictures I posted above and in further detail here:



This cannot yet be reproduced with today's scanning and printing technology.

Brought this last year and had it framed in museum glass after being told it was real. Finally brought a banksy and checked it against my COA to see its not genuine. Really gutted so I want somebody else to have it to appreciate the image and the point of the Di Faced Tenner. Free to a good home. frame not included. Not to be ebayed.

That's a really good idea. I think I need to get rid of this one because I feel I've been conned so I feel sour about it. Maybe il create some butterfly's with burnt wings to highlight how fakes are taking advantage of people who put trust in humanity.
