We all now that there is no COA and that Pest control does not authenticate them...

its very very easy to tell the difference - by the 10 on the Diana side there is a faint watermark which says ten pounds coming from the bottom of the 0 of the ten if you can see this as clear as day then its not fake - also the lithographic offset (like a billboard poster) is very clear - id say 80% of the notes on ebay are fake - certain suppliers who appear to be making a good business out of selling them. if you want a photo email me [e-mail] please also include forum name please - I will send you a comparison fake against real. I also have an email from pest control saying that the tenners you get with you COA's are genuine from the original run - I therefore know that the one tenner I have is real - a fake is really easy to spot.

Buy a (genuine) Banksy print. Apply for, and get a COA with half a note. Compare paper and print through a loupe.

Do not, I repeat, do not buy one from eBay. Only get one from a trusted forum member. I've been looking for a few years and I've never seen a single tenner on eBay I'd trust 100%

For those still wanting to purchase the advice from Hnkpnk and barababush is spot on. The half Difaced tenners that come with the POW CoA are all noticeably bluer in colour than those that on ebay. How do I know? Because I bought a number some months back only to have to apply for a CoA for one of my Banksy prints where the truth became apparent. Another noticeable difference is the distance of the code under the 10 on the right of the print to the edge of the note. There is a significant difference with the fakes where the distance is much shorter. If there was only one print run i.e. the one that accompanies the CoA POW (and no one has told me otherwise) then the you don't need much more to assist you with your purchase. However, without the real one to compare against it is more difficult but not impossible to gauge the correct one. I hope that helps.

Thanks for posting. Those tiny dots are a good tell - fakes are printed on an inkjet, so they don't have them (or they're less sharp because they were copied)

Usually I take a 1950's style 'safety' razor and lay the note flat on an edwardian writing slope (if you don't have one you can just as easily use a Louis XIV commode) The real notes are the thivkness of a human (Austro Caucasiod) hair. Very carefully, [licks receding lips whilst pushing whisps of greying hair from a damp brow] I literally 'slice' the note lengthways in two. If it works, "Great! I've got two!" Whoop halloop! It's off to Lloyd's on Tower Street to see my mercantile chums. If it doesn't I sink into the depths of despair, reneging again on my promise to desist from spending my monthly stipend on hookers and gin.

Nb. for those having problems with detail work by candle light I can't recommend the Iscon Eye Speculum enough!
